Its legal. I measured it and the wheelbase on the BT4 is the same as the T4 (288mm).
For comparison: The new TLR 22 is the maximum wheelbase at 292 which is 15mm longer than the current XXXCR platform.
I was able to fit a Pro Line Vortex body on by trimming the front sides and using velcro on the sides instead of body clips.

Thats the one I am talking about. For a DYI project, it came out real clean. He trimmed the back of the body a little long to make up the additional wheelbase. On the track it doesn't look much different than the standard B4's He is the one who said it turned out to be over the limit, but I don't want to offend anyone. LOL

A pal told me that some of the west coast guys (with other brands of cars) have been putting a truck chassis tub on their buggys to lengthen the wheelbase (which I'm told makes the cars smoother, easier to drive and jump, without forfeiting much if any steering. Has anybody tried this on an AE B4 or B4.1? Is the truck tub a direct fit (just with a longer wheelbase)
I have some info I posted on this on the b4 t4 forum here. Something with another guy had pics with the body. I just used the same body with more velcro to see if I liked the truck chassis.

well i just tried the t4 chassis with buggy setup. Works pretty well. I would say its alot more stable high speed and in turns. It felt like the more i pushed the car in the turn the more it wanted to turn. I run on a small tight high bit indoor track. I wish it would turn a little sharper. For me it was alot easier to drive but where its tight was alot harder to hold the tight line. About the same lap times just a little more consistent So im just going to run the normal chassis. You guys should try it you might like it more.

The Proline bulldog B4 body works pretty well with very minor trimming. Check out the pictures of my B4 with it and the T4 chassis.

You can kind of see where I trimmed it on the front. Also flattened the nose with a heat gun. I left a little extra material around the rear body mount tab to give it more support. There is enough room on the sides to put some velcro at the flat spot but not closer to the front or at the very back. I use velcro on the sides and a body pin on the front.
