Could I just shorten the antenna tube (leaving the antenna itself its original length of course) so it doesn't stick out of the body without negatively effecting signal strength?

I'm using a Futaba R2104GF receiver.

I want to get this sucker done so I can race it for the first time.
Definately! I only use about an inch or two of antenna tube, coil up the rest of the antenna wire. No need for a full antenna with 2.4Ghz

These are for the BB 12.0mm Kyosho shocks. 4 hole x 1.3mm dia tapered piston. Drop your oil 2.5 to 5 from what you run the stock 5 hole. Most people love them. Team AE also makes a 12.0mm tapered piston that costs less, but I have not tried them.

Anyway to tell what springs I have on my new to me SC-R? I have the regular bore velvet shocks but I'm not sure on the springs. I thought I read somewhere in this thread that they are etched on the spring but I can't find any marks on the springs, they are simply black in color all around.

on one end of the spring....its marked on the last wind of the spring in white. small and can potentially wear away if it had enough use. It should be there.

your going to want to run 75 front and 70 rear.

Thanks guys, I took a jewelers loupe to all 4 and was unable to find a mark. The black paint is completely worn off on each end and all I see are machine marks. May just have to buy some new ones so I'm sure what I'm running.

take a close look, hold it so you are looking directly at the end, you can see the area they ground down to flatten the last spring coil, the printing is right next to that on the unflattened part of the last coil. It's small and printed in a gray color. The spring itself is not painted.
