Hey guys. I just got my SC10 not too long ago and am getting it up to snuff. This will be my first attempt at racing. My question is there is a LOT of slop from my rear A-arm to my hub. I believe its in the actual hub itself. Should I replace them with aluminums one? Or are they not worth the $$$? Thanks for the help guys.

You could probly do new stock hubs and fresh bearings under 10 bucks.

The main culprits of slop are camber ball cups, shock eyelets (top and bottom) and rear hub (hinge pin and bearings).

There are a few places to run aluminum and the rear hub is one. I like the stiffness when I'm on power. They won't flex or twist.

For 2WD SC, if you could only buy two sets of tires, what would they be? I've identified about 5 different sets that folks use at the local tracks but can't afford them all.

Tires

Indoor clay? Outside? Loamy? Use what the fast guys run. Most important aspect of short course is tires.

Thanks. Will look to invest in them soon. Trying to get a list of stuff I know I am going to have to buy soon.

I run on a hard packed clay track with a nice blue groove. I always start out with SS DD's and move to Bar codes (Blue Compound) (Orange if it's really hot out). But it depends on the surface you race on. If you already know the 5 that are run at your track buy what they run early and in the mains. Chances are they change up from the first heat to the main.

Yeah, it really all depends on the track. There is no one "best tire" for everything. My local track is a medium sized indoor clay track, with medium bite. Nearly everyone runs JConcept Barcodes there (as do I). They seem to work fairly good, but I'm planning on trying a few other types this Summer (possibly HB Beams, Pressure Points, AKA Wishbones, or Rebars).

And as far as RPM a-arms go, I personally think they work best for a bashing as they are more durable. But, I agree with JBone... if you plan on driving on an indoor track that doesn't have huge jumps, just go with the stock ones

tires for carpet

Hi,
what would be the best tires (front and rear) for a small tight carpet track, hi grip.

thanks

elex300 04-05-2012 01:57 PM

Stock SC10 tires are great on carpet.

BlueGlowBoy 04-05-2012 06:18 PM

I've got a set of old soft enduros that have been worn down to almost nothing that work GREAT on carpet.

To be competitive you are going to need more than 2 set's of tires.

I run only one set on my truck- Hot Bodies Beams in pink... and they work at my track very well..

My buggy is a 100% different story
I have HB Beams, Barcodes, rebar, Holeshots, Fuzies, double dee's and hybrids.
each works better at a different time on the track.

If my heats are after they water I run rebars or fuzies
later in the night with no water. beams or bar codes. sometimes rebars.

it changes for my buggy ever night at the track lol

Anyone use ballast weight? Where and how do you use it? Any info or pics would be nice.
