Anyone see a temp drop from the FT milled aluminum motor plate, or is it just for show? Fighting temp issues a little, curious if it'll help.
LRP SXX stock spec V2, x-12 13.5, geared 20/84 (per LRP), 4 dot timing insert, modes are 3-3-4-0, I think. Motor comes off at 180 after maybe 10 minutes. Esc has fan, comes off at 95! Or, Less boost, more pinion? Speed is perfect right now...

Sounds like your slipper may be too loose or you may have extra drag in your driveline. I would check the screws that go through the transmission case and into the motor plate. Pull the slipper clutch assembly off and check for wear on the inside metal part of the slipper clutch. I was having the same issue and discovered that one of the screws was dragging on the slipper assembly.

As far as temp difference with the FT plate, I haven't had a need for extra cooling, so I can't really tell if the FT plate works better than the RTR.

JConcepts makes premounts that work with the SC10, although gluing tires is not that difficult.

I just changed back to a gear diff and so far so good. I got tired of rebuilding the ball diff so thought I would give the gear diff a second chance. Hard to notice that much of a diff between the two in my opinion. Got a feeling you will experience the same if you try a gear diff.

I installed the FT plate on my RS (after running the standard one first), and I noticed a mild drop in temps. But at the same time I swapped plates, I also used Artic Silver thermal paste (stuff I use on computers) between the motor and the plate, so that too may have contributed to a slightly cooler running setup. It was enough, in my case, to pull my temps down from the dangerous 180's to the merely quite hot 170's. Granted this is with 105 deg. outside heat here in Vegas. That darn Reedy 3300 does get toasty, especially on stock gearing. Would I buy it again? Nah. I'd first do the thermal paste, THEN add it maybe. A fan or sink on the motor itself would likely work better, if you could ever get one in there.

I wouldn't say I'm a successful racer, I'm just a club racer having fun and occasionally getting somewhere near the top of the heap by the end of a race, occasionally not. I run the RS gear diff (more coarse gears than standard SC10, supposedly more durable.) I've been fooling with different viscosities and have worked my way down from 10k, to 7k, then 5k, and I just put in 3k and I'm giving that a try tomorrow.

The track: a very loose running, somewhat packed dirt/clay indoor (sometimes pretty wet) place. I quickly went down from 10k to 7k after raceday one with this truck, that was just too much all around though it worked well on the concrete outside. 7k was better but still way too strong, and 5k definitely got in the ballpark so I kept that in for 4 race weekends. I am hoping that 3k puts me in the sweet spot for this loose track, while still keeping me from diffing out. If you've got significantly more grip, you might want to mess with the 5k to 7k fluids.

What's cool about a gear diff is you can make these adjustments, though it sure takes a while to get to the trans, so don't expect to change fluids in-between heats.

Well thanks!! I got the kit used and it did not come with the kit tools. I have 3mm, 4mm and 5mm and non fit. Just found that strange. I search this thread and did not find a post about it. Google came back with some other boards talked about it being 3.6 which i had not seen before. Sorry for bothering ya with a stupid question....
