Ordered my hex parts directly from Team Associated. Got everything in yesterday and installed today. Make sure you have the 440 aluminum lock nuts that the ball studs screw into, it was the only thing that wasn't included with the parts I ordered.

The 12pm hexs for my proline protrac kit are allium.I had to dremel the black paint off for them to fit in my new de 12pm hex wheels

I take that back. They can be used however you can not put the wheel nut on all the way and the nylon will not hold the wheel on. I guess you could locktite the wheel nut on each time it you really wanted to. See pictures for clairification

Interesting. I use Jconcepts wheels, which I think are thinner. They used to make half height nylocks, which would also work.

I bought the Proline front end because I was in a hurry (I wanted to race this weekend, and it's a brand new to me truck, since I didn't have any tires I wanted to use the same tires I have for my SC4x4) and I figured WTH? Mine has no slop. The PL aluminum hexes are the same size as the Jconcepts ones.

Maybe I got lucky.

I hate to bring this back from the dead, but did you forget to put the roll pins back in before you put the hexes on the axle?

20 SMOKE 08-14-2011 04:32 AM

no

No what? You put the roll pins in but it turned anyway? You realize you need different wheels right? Because there is little chance of turning a 12mm hex unless you have a wheel nut come loose....

I write this because mine work fine and I was trying to mine some useful data why you weren't successful using this product. I'm sincerely not trolling you.

Ryno:

Here is the link to the proper nylocks from AE:

you asked if i forgot to put the pin back in,i said no.i moved on from the hex nuts and got the proline.and the wheels are j concepts

I just installed a proline hex kit that I've had sitting in the box. Fit is tight and perfect, front and rear. I did add a second 3/16" shim to the front just to tighten it up a little, no issues. I also added some 4-40x1/8" setscrews to the front hubs to hold them onto the axles. I'll have access to a set of the AE wheels soon, and I'll check the fit, but I have no problems with the Proline wheels.

The proline wheels fit nice, the de 12mm hex wheel is tight,I had to dremel the paint off to work.

you can always use serrated nuts instead of nylon locknuts. i use those on my SCTE.
