I run split six rims because they give me more control in the air. I already have enough motor...

I run the Split Six Bead-Loc wheels and I really like them (http://www.myrcbox.com/?p=1837). They are a little bit heavier than stock wheel but their weight add more traction.

i have bowties on split six beadlocks. is anyone else having the back side of the tire come out of the bead lock? small sections came out a 3-4 times last night, and during one run the entire backside of the tire was off the rim. the 6 screws on the plate were all tight

I can't glue the Bow-Tie tires to the Associated rims for the life of me, keep getting some severely unbalanced tires due to glue getting where I don't want it, so I switched to the Split Six rims. Haven't been to the track yet to see the difference the weight makes, but I haven't added any weight to my chassis yet either.
The only thing the spit six proline wheels do is add rotational weight which is no good and robbs power from motor and battery and does nothing when it comes to someone wanting to add weight to the rear for traction.

And that rotational inertia increase acts like a big heavy flywheel and aids in low traction situation.

as you well know i have way more motor than you. i have yet to have a tire even come close to coming offf the bead.

its all about getting the tire on straight when you assemle it.

ill do them next time for you and we will see if its installer error.

p.s.
take a peek at what i drove for last nights open short course @ OCRC....

Any added weight to the wheels adds to unsprung weight which confuses the suspension. In addition, that weight transfers more energy and stress to those components immediately around it. If simply putting heavier wheels on a race truck would increase performance, wouldn't the TORC trucks and Lucas Oil race trucks just run solid steel wheels instead of aluminum? Any added weight to a performance vehicle must be as close to the center of the chassis as possible.

It does exactly what I said, it helps in loose conditions to keep the tires from spinning up as fast when traction is lost.

I didn't say anything else. I didn't say unsprung weight is good.

By the way have you ever held one those Aluminum wheels? They are not light, Aluminum is used for many reasons but at the end of the day in off road beadlock wheels they are just as heavy and in many cases weigh more than a steel wheel.

To your last point weight is added anywhere a part fails, sprung or unsprung, center of mass or lug nut. Durability is king when attrition is as big factor as in off road.

The factory team one is the best design I've seen so far. Simple too. . . cut your foam spacer block in half.. add this strap . .

http://67.199.85.166/main/productdetails.php?text=9851

then you can adjust the battery forward, middle, and all the way to the rear.
