hey my buddy has the gear diff in his with a 13.5 motor and it squeels when it takes off. tightened the slipper up and it still does it. could it be the diff making that noise? i am a total newb with these gear diffs and i have always had a ball diff in my SC10.....

i have a 5700kv motor and my slipper is just fine looser than his is. so what could it be?

If its a hard packed track it might just be the wheels spinning. Is this the sound you are hearing?

No idea i run my slipper way loose also so that on the starts i can get onto the gas alot faster and it helps keep the power on the ground, and its almost silent.

Check gear mesh, if its to tight it will squeel, if its to loose it will chatter.

Pimpin 08-27-2009 12:24 PM

no its alot more of a squeel than the video. my truck sounds just like the one in the vid. his is way worse.

i never checked his gear mesh so ill be sure to do that. just doesnt sound like a mesh noise. but it could be now that you mention that.

could the pads be glazed over from him running it really loose? now it just slips no matter what?

oh yea i can change the arm in about 4-5 min now too. LOL

I dont think its the slipper cause i have run myn really loose when i first got the motor and it doesnt make a squel noise. I wouldnt think it could be the mesh but some of those pinions are so damm weird you never know, i would check the mesh if that doesnt work its time for a rebuild !

Edit - It has to be the mesh, or something is just totally not right inside then you need to rebuild it.

you know what......now that you mention something about a pinion.....

i gave him a new pinion to gear down to.....its a 14 yr old pinion......that could be it because i never heard it like that from his truck before that.....

two minds are always better than one.....THANKS!

The problem is if you goto a 5700 you have to leave the punch controll @ 0, and you have to keep the motor timing on low. Altho everyone that told me a 5700kv would be to fast, i have to say you are wrong, 1/4 the way down the straight im to the floor all the way into the sweeper.

Im going to do a ball diff this weekend and it will be totally dialed.

i run on stock and goosebumps and have a 5700 in the slash. heat was an issue thats why i went with 4600. i bought the esc used and had i changed a few of his settings. the punch was at 40% and i left that go. should i change that to 0?
I'll reset to default and start over

Pimpin 08-27-2009 01:04 PM

my punch is default and its plenty of power when i stab it.

Yeah, 0% control over it is default. That's the "highest" setting, so yeah, it would have plenty of power. Start "controlling" it and you'll have less start-up punch.
