Team Durango DEX410 4WD 1/10 Off-Road Buggy Thread
#616

Every track needs different tires (UK races on astroturf, some race on clay, some loose dirt), so for most companies, including tires in a kit that is already very expensive is a HUGE waste of money. Most people don't use ANY kit tire for any off road car out of the box, so if they can knock $30 off the price of the kit and keep their European tires out of the kit, I'm fine with that.

There are already quite a few in this country, without a distributor here. Price is not relevant for a high quality kit that needs little or no upgrade to win. People spend 2 to 3 times more on puffy 1/8th scale gas buggies, road race cars, and just as much on an 8th electric buggy. The cost of a Durango DEX410 is nothing compared to how much money MANY racers spend on all classes of race cars.

Does anyone have more information on the DEX410 replicas that are coming out of Japan? At least that's what I heard. A local racer told me that he read an article on neo-buggy.net but I haven't seen it. If anyone has more information about this please post it so that others be aware and don't make the mistake of buying a cheap replica.

Not Japan, China. The info on these popped up here. They are supposedly coming from a company called "Alien Power" which is using a Photoshopped photo of an actual Durango in their marketing material as a "teaser shot." You'd think an operation like Racer Magazine would be a little sharper than that.
There is a big thread on oOple about them, too. Lots of hostility toward Chinese knock-off companies, in general.
I didn't know about them, but there are apparently complete knock-offs of the Schumacher Mi4, too. After seeing the photos of the copy, there should be laws against that sort of thing. I mean, it's virtually identical, and only someone very intimate with an actual Mi4 or genuine Schumacher parts would be able to tell the difference by sight.

Just buy it direct, or from an authorized seller. Problem solved.
