That's an interesting take on it. How much weight does that add?
I had a design planned (never realized) where the side pod on one side would be replaced with a hinged one, allowing you to remove battery without using the Dex410's party trick. I suspect it would have increased the rear flex a little unless i could make it work with the Ushaped brace at the back.
Are you still running these in competition?

Honestly I haven't checked because previously I was using saddle packs and brass weights on the U. Going for a shorty spares me about 90g. So in fact I was more concerned about the thing being too light, and I include in the design the possibility to add Durango weights along the battery (1 to 4 pairs lol).
And about racing, I have no occasion to try it since it has been completed.

ah ok, so you've not been running shorty before. I ran a shorty for a while ( with a slightly modified battery strap and some foams on each side to keep the battery in place. worked really well and yeah dropped the weight a lot. Still no where close to our minimums here in Australia.
So you've been running it before you modded it still? I should get mine out again and have a drive. it was quite capable but i had a hard time setting it up for our loose tracks. Now our track has more grip, would be interesting to see how it goes, i still have tonnes of spares and upgrade for it.

Yup i've raced with it some years ago, mainly in indoor carpet races, it was very agile so I was concerned about removing more weight on the rear... But clearly ony a track test can confirm that. Since that we have seen the weight going forward with moden buggy, like Tekno for instances, so...

I run Schumacher cars now, still have all the weight rearward. Teknos never really took off here ( Australia ). Being nimble is still more important to me (plus the Tekno is just weird all over. Very high weight bias as well as frontward ). The Durango did drive so well. Just a pity the company died out. Always hard being the outlier brand. Even when Serpent took over the basic design, it was not the same. I wish we did have a kind of merge of some of the Serpent parts ( like alu bulkheads etc ) which we have I guess on the v5 (i've never run mine!). Too little to late for that poor car.
Still the v3/v4 really work well. Hopefully your design makes your car even better!. I miss running them

Anyone have V4 center diff they might want to part with or know where I can get one ?

Sadly this doesn't exist. the V5 came with the option to run a center diff, but there is no factory option for the v4 or below. People have made custom chassis to allow the use of a center diff from the DESC410 4wd Truck and others have shoe horned in a Associated ( b44? ) diff in to the standard mounts. Possibly also a Team C TM4 center diff could also work, but i've never seen that ( it would probably still require new holes in the chassis and different length drive shafts but as it replaces the exact DEX410 slipper its probably the closest)

Looking to sell my DEX 410 either as a roller or complete less batteries. Have a ton of spares parts and several sets of wheels too.
