@Tekin

I've been running my Ve8 with a RX8 1900 for some time with flipped diffs. Now I'm thinking of flipping them back to the default setup and reverse the motor direction. It is a bad idea to do so after running the motor in one direction for some time?

Also, will I loose some KV in the motor when running it reversed? I've read that some brands do see a little decreased KV but I don't know about the Tekins?

I think they were experimenting w/ 2 2s's in parrallel...but racing 1 2s... not 100% of what combos the locals are running.

So 1 2s (like a 5k 50c) not enough even for the lowest kv motors? ..on a very small track.

This is great Randy but do I have to break my 2 RX8's to get the new case? I really do not want to send in working units to get the case that will keep them working. What is the plan for guys like me?

thanks tekin for backing up your product.

???? why wouldnt you be able to run a 1400kv on 4s?

i want to try 6s but i herd that you cant raise the custom lipo cutoff to higher than 18 volts (3.0 volts per cell) is this true? i want to try 6s but i like running a higher 3.4 per cell cutoff because i feel 3.0 is too low for these expensive lipos at 3.0 if your pack is the slightest out of balance one of your cells is going under 3 volts ......not good

so whats the deal can you run the custom lipo cutoff higher than 18 volts (3 per cell 6s) if not is tekin planning on releasing new hotwire software so its possible to raise the cutoff higher than 3 per cell when running 6s?

i personally haven't tried raising mine to higher than 18 (this is just what ive herd) so if its possible now disregard this post lol

I too pondered the same thing. I am not sure that the flipped diffs affect the handling. I read in the past (from a few HB racers that it didn't matter, but who knows...

No effect on KV rating if the motor direction is reversed via Hotwire. I've been running it like that since day one and have had great results!

I am fairly new to the brushless 1/8 scale. I picked up a Losi 8 2.0 e about a month ago that came with a MMM and a 2650. I have been running it on 3s 5000 and it has been awesome. I get around 15 mins.... I just ordered from Randy a Tekin RX8 and a 2650, I know I will find this smoother than the MMM. However I notice many of you elect to run 5s or 6s. I am curious dont you find that the weight of those cells throw the car off balance? I was thinking of going the other way on this Tekin and getting a 1400 and trying 6s, but I just couldnt get past the weight of the batts.

When you go from 4s 5000 1900-2050 to 5s 4000mah 1700KV- to 6s 3000 1400KV actually you can end up with a lighter set up, not heavier. All the set ups I just wrote will yeild very similar runtimes because of the efficiency gain of going to more cells, also run smoother and cooler.

4th esc, the newest version that won't break, just caught on fire today! Is it my turnigy batteries? No because I used racers edge today. I wish I was one of the people who have had it working for 7-8 months! Instead I'm running out of warranty time because the life of my rx8 has been spent in the mail! Does my warranty get pushed back every time I get a new one? When is enough going to be enough. I literally had it working for 30 minutes.I know some companies won't replace broken items (I've never had to deal with one of them) But that's why they don't get my business. Tekin, you guys need to fix the problem and stop blaming the customers for the issues. Like Randy blaming turnigy batteries (by the way, they are great packs according to everybody who has them). Like i said, I used racers edge today so apparently that's not the issue.

A poorly performing battery of ANY brand can cause an Rx8 failure. If your unit has blown caps inside I will stand behind my statment whole heartidly.

Also, if your esc has failed in this manner before I would insist that you send us your motor for inspection as well. A shorted motor can also cause this. When your motor is hot, does it feel tight or dragging?

We have never blamed a customer to be at fault unless improper mounting, use, or wiring were involved. Those type of things are out of our control. I'm sorry that you've had a failure. I would like you to call into the main office tomorrow so we can discuss it: 208-634-5559

If you're sending in your service we do prefer that you remove your wiring, etc. We cannot gurantee you'll get it back.

Sorry for the rant Randy, but I don't think you know how frustrating this is. My engine does not move free anymore since the failure. I do not want to pay another $15 to ship it, I know it's not much but I can't justify it this time (would you be able to?). As much as I want to set this aside and show it to the local racers, I want to show off my electric at our tracks. There's me and another guy with Tekin, that's it. I want to support Tekin a lot but how can I if I KEEP missing races? Electric 1:8 is growing in Colorado. Pm me if you don't want my ranting on the public forums.

I'll be at nationals in Colorado springs this weekend. If you guys are coming I'll just bring it to you guys there
