Lou if you want more speed go up on the pinion. You are geared pretty low for an RC8. The 2050 will absolutely rip! As far as the 5 or 6s packs, I wouldnt because you would have trouble taming it down enough to make it raceable.

Thanks for the advice Jube, My main concern about gearing up is run time. I had my EPA turned down 15% and could still clear all the monster jumps easily but it just seemed slow on the straight. 15 minute mains seem to be the norm here in St.Louis.

With the BL motors you need to put a certain amount of load on them to get the best efficiency out of them. By being geared as low as you are and with your epa backed down, you arent loading the motor much. We have actually seen an increase in run times by gearing up to around the 18t area. I think you will find most guys run in the high teens with the rc8.

I'll gear up for the race Saturday and give it a try
I checked the temps with a temp gun after the main
Motor - 140
Speedo - 105
Batteries - 105

I run a Losi with the 2050.... small track 45/14 profile 2 if there is good grip and profile 1 if its slick. Breaks at %50 motor timeing at 0..... with a 4cell zippy 5000 and get 20 min.Good luck! If you want top speed stick with the 45/15 and turn your EPA's all the way up on the throttle!

Like Glenn said turn your epa back up if you dont have the top speed you are wanting. Temps are awesome btw. I've also found that I can lower my temps, to an extent, by gearing up. 2 weeks ago I went up one tooth and dropped 20 degs in a qual. and put less mah back in.

Default tekin motors

Hey guys, thanks for all of the help, I was wondering if all of the tekin motors are having this rotor problem. The reason I ask this is because i ordered another motor to have for a upcoming race this weekend. I ordered a 1900kv and i am debating buying a castle 2200kv, but it is a sensorless motor. I know that the rx8 can run both, i liked the smoothness of my 2050,but to be honest i am worried about getting another tekin until mine is fixed and knowing the problems with the rotors are fixed. I would hate to go all the way out to this race and only get a few runs in before the rotor blew like my last one. Keep in mind I am not bashing the product, i think it is an awesome system and cant wait to get my new rotor so that i can run my 2050 again because before the motor let go it was great.

My sensor wire came unplugged in my buggy at the last race and I didnt even notice in the way it drove. Somone pointed it out to me and I plugged it back in again. It was still very smooth running without the sensors so I wouldnt worry if you want to run a sensorless motor with the RX8.

That's interesting, mine came off at the SSNC and I noticed it quite a bit, it didn't feel as snappy in the low end. Plugged it back in and it was all better. Mostly noticed in in corners and slow sections.

My sensor wire has come out on occassion during a race and I never noticed it. I recently hooked my rx8 up to my Nue 1512 3d and it works great. No cogging unless you try to make it crawl.

I tried running my Medusa motor on my RX8 and it works great! Startup is the best I have seen with any sensorless controller. It will even crawl fairly well for a sensorless setup. I don't have good data but it seems that the medusa ran cooler on the RX8 that it did on the MM even though the timing should be within a degree of the same. I would have no issues with the sensor wire coming off during a race. I really don't think it would make a difference unless you were stuck up against the pipes nose first in which case you deserve to wait for the martial to come get you.

I have tried it, but they are a bit heavy for the power (5S2P). Fast charging is a nice feature (up to 15C I believe). They may be practical for 5 to 8 minute races, maybe even 10, but they don't have what it takes to do 15 and still be a reasonable size.
