Default Do I Get It ?

The local Hobby shop will sell me the dog for 180, regular cost was 319. I don't know much about this car as far as handling charateristics. How does it compare to the XXX4. Is it a better jumper, more or less durable, easier to set up ????

$180?! That sounds like a heck of a deal. You had better check if that is a MR4-BC Special Super Dog Fighter 2 and not just a MR4-BC (also subtitled 'Super Dog Fighter 2') The BC (non-Special) is basically an entry-level car where as the 'BC Special' is fully loaded.

As for performance... The BC Special is fully capable of competing with the XXX-4 and is in many cases more durable. One drawback to the BC series is the exposed belt drive compared to the XXX-4's (more) enclosed transmission. Usually this isn't a big deal unless you run in very dusty conditions.

It's the special version. It's been sitting in the hobby shop for 7 months. Nobody will buy it because everybody runs XXX4's. The owner just want's to get rid of it.

How does MR4BC handle jumps?

Guys,
What is the part number of the diff outdrive saver? It is the one you slide onto the outdrive and put a drop of ca to hold it in place.
Thanks.

The simple answer is, "As good as any other buggy." I'd say maybe better in some cases because of it's relatively long and ridged suspension arms ... not to be a smart @$$ but how well a car jumps is often more in the setup and skill of the driver than anything else. If you approach wrong or the setup is way off, jumping will be impacted no matter what the vehicle.

There are a few shaft drive Yokomo-based buggies being built by racers. They are not BC conversions, however. They are loosly based on the MR4TC-SD (touring car) chassis and have the MX4/BC suspension arms fitted to them.

The most production worthy (sorry DS) is the 'Project Mako' being designed/built in the UK.
The official website is: http://ProjectMako.co.uk
You can find more info over at the http://www.4WDRC.com forums too.

And RCRaceChat.com: http://www.rcracechat.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=144

One other buggy is/was built by a single person in California. You can find info and pics on the YokomoUSA.com forum:

There are several custom built Yokomo-based cars showing up on the net too. You can find some pics and info below.

I am sure there are more ... these are what I could remember quickly.

the mako is probably the best example right now as it is a complete conversion on the sd rather than a mod. longer chassis, suspension geometry changes etc. certainly seems to work and is very quick.

here are some more shots

that mako car has an interesting chassis with 4 cells and servo on one side and motor and 2 cells on the other. it's a design not seen since mx-4 i think..
