Yokomo MR4-BC Super Dogfighter 2
#302
$180?! That sounds like a heck of a deal. You had better check if that is a MR4-BC Special Super Dog Fighter 2 and not just a MR4-BC (also subtitled 'Super Dog Fighter 2') The BC (non-Special) is basically an entry-level car where as the 'BC Special' is fully loaded.
As for performance... The BC Special is fully capable of competing with the XXX-4 and is in many cases more durable. One drawback to the BC series is the exposed belt drive compared to the XXX-4's (more) enclosed transmission. Usually this isn't a big deal unless you run in very dusty conditions.

Guys,
What is the part number of the diff outdrive saver? It is the one you slide onto the outdrive and put a drop of ca to hold it in place.
Thanks.

The most production worthy (sorry DS) is the 'Project Mako' being designed/built in the UK.
The official website is: http://ProjectMako.co.uk
You can find more info over at the http://www.4WDRC.com forums too.
And RCRaceChat.com: http://www.rcracechat.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
One other buggy is/was built by a single person in California. You can find info and pics on the YokomoUSA.com forum:

There are several custom built Yokomo-based cars showing up on the net too. You can find some pics and info below.

I am sure there are more ... these are what I could remember quickly.

thanks a lot guys, now let us see if yokomo puts something similar into production.

the mako is probably the best example right now as it is a complete conversion on the sd rather than a mod. longer chassis, suspension geometry changes etc. certainly seems to work and is very quick.
here are some more shots

that mako car has an interesting chassis with 4 cells and servo on one side and motor and 2 cells on the other. it's a design not seen since mx-4 i think..

sorry, i jus realised, it's actually 3 cells a side, haha silly me

it does have echos of the MX4 but handles very diferently from what i have seen of it running
