It's the same as the old belt drive TC, I've got one in mine

Thanks. That will make things easier. I still have a couple MR4TC cars around with belts.

Default drill hole under Diff and Spur

Hi,

I find that dirt & sand can get into the drive train of MR4-BC
easily. Does it make sense to drill a hole under the front & rear diff for dirt to escape ? as well as the small section under the spur gear.

Anyone tried that with good result ?

Please advise.

the MX4 used to have a hole under the spur but not the diff, i think this would be asking for trouble. one mod i have noticed is that some drivers have been cutting away the spur cover on the rear bulkhead cap and the top deck which i assume would allow the spur to throw out any dirt it collects rather than the covers keeping it in the drive train. the hole for the spur on the MX4 was mainly there to allow the use of an 84T spur which would be flush with the bottom of the chassis.

hope that helps

i was told they cut that away to make it easier to check the pinion mesh / move the spur

hmm... possibly
does have a slight draw back though as it does allow the chassis to flex a bit more.

i also saw on the millenium kit that masami produced for a short while (YRP) he had a lexan cover that went over the gap at the rear to stop dirt getting in the rear box which is an option if you fancy fashioning one.

hmm... MX-4 YMP is a mid drive car. So, it is possible to
use a piece of lexan plate to cover the rear bulkhead.

Maybe not for MR4-BC.

I know I asked this question several pages back, but I'm not entirely sure anybody completely answered it. So, since I've just sold one of my 4wd buggies, I'm again looking at this car, and I need to know what spares to stock up on, as my LHS doesn't stock any Yokomo parts at all.

For the Special Edition kit, what spares will I need to stock up on? The front bulkhead seems to be a pretty common breakable part, but anything else? front spindles? front uprights? A-arms? Steering assembly components? shock towers? anything at all?

Thanks for any input you guys can provide!!

Default mr4bc parts

Yeah on all the above. Anything to do with the front end. Not that it is that weak, but just because the shop doesn't stock parts. the front bulkhead cap for sure.

I would also get a spare rear belt, and because the wheels are unique, get some dish wheels too. Also, there are 2 tiny set screws for the front shock tower, and without them your tower will come loose. I'm sure they're cheap, so you mine as well have piece of mind.

I don't remember how many pages back it was, but I posted a tip on making a hinge pin brace out of woven carbon fiber. I highly suggest doing this mod. 4 of us did this at my local track, and we haven't broken any bulkheads since.

It's an MR4-BC Special. That's Yokomo's latest model.

2003 special version
things that might be throwing you are the AE battery strap, cant quite see if there has been a 7th battery slot added, and the mod to the rear wishbones which the japanise drivers use, good for dirt tracks.
