Yeah, it looked a little long. I will stick with double-bagging the rear CVD joint.
They last forever using this little technique. I actually have replaced the drive pin several times on the one I am running now because the joint is not wearing. I still clean it out and re-grease once in a while. Change the boots once or twice a year and good to go . . .

I wonder if a rear universal would be a benefit--I run the front and really like mine as well. By design a (true) CVD had more degrees of freedom than a universal joint and is why you do not see more universals on the four corners. But using them on the F/R center does makes sense since they are essentially stationary.
Here is a tip if you are having maintenance/wear problems with your rear CVD. Get the Losi boots that come with the kit and use another boot like Mugen to put inside to seal everything up so you can pack it with grease. Check it out . . .

Remember these have to be trimmed to fit inside the Losi boot . . .
