For indoor clay that was the set up to have with green yokomo springs in the rear on the b6d. Box stock 6.1d setup feels just as good if not better. (White v2 springs all around and stock pistons with 30wt oil)
The only thing that could use work from the stock setup is the front end. The steering could be a little more aggressive in the first part of the corner, but a little lazier car means more consistent laps (at least for my driving style). I prefer a more consistent feel over a really quick car over one lap.

There is gearing suggestions in the manual. Maybe start there?

A lot of local racers have at OCRC lately. It does provide a little more grip and help in tight corners. I just removed the top screw of the waterfall and left it secured to the chassis. It still flexes a little more than stock and gave more grip when needed.
jpcopeland1 and rvrslt1 like this.

So the stock chassis is really that stiff? maybe they will come out with a lightweight "flex" chassis like XRAY does for the XB2.

I went in one hole on the shock tower to get a little more aggressive steering out of it, dropped rear oil to 27.5, and it was where I wanted it, Plenty of steering, and great forward bite, I see a lot of the team guys are using V1 springs. Not sure I want my car to land like a mop, so I will keep playing with the V2's or go Yokomo. Apparently the Racing Performer orange rears are a great place to start. Have a pair so will start there.

Current indications don't point to a refresh at least in the next 6 months. Personal guess would be maybe early 2019 to be ready for the IFMAR worlds.

Lets start a discussion on gearing and the newer generation of motors. I got into buggies this past winter with the club racer and was running the locked timing Reedy 17.5 and the 72/33 gears the motor never came close to getting hot. Got a new 6.1D and a new motor from Amain I believe it is their brand https://www.amainhobbies.com/ecopowe...p-8000/p360110 and the HW Xerun V3.1 stock spec ESC and started my gearing where I was on the club racer 72/33 one of the other guys there had his new 6.1D and was running a 69/29 I ran 2 heats with first set and the 3rd heat and main with the 69/29 the smaller set seemed smoother to me but didn't have the snap and top end the larger set had. and the motor never got over 115 degrees. One day last week I seen a video on Jconcepts FB page with the guy from Shurr speed motors and HW talking how they were just at some race and how the guys were charging the batteries normally, motor timing around 45 and gearing with 72-75 spurs and I think if I remember correctly around say 25-26 pinions and getting the same speeds as the old gearing methods because of the newer motors are so much different than the older ones. I race in Ohio at The Ohio RC Factory in Jeffersonville, and EN hobbies in Columbus, both nice indoor med to high bite tracks, and I would guess both are a little larger than what I have seen on some of the indoor tracks from the west coast just guessing. What track sizes do some of you race on and what gearing is used? And so far I really like this motor.
