I have both cars. In low to medium grip astro the 6.1d car works very well with orange and blue v1 springs fitted. Battery all the way forwards and play with rear link and toe in to suit plus adjusting diff heights and axle heights it’s as quick as my 6.1 car.

6.1 is only faster when the grips really high for me

Thanks for the advice. I plan to occasionally drive it on hard packed clay too and I don't intend to have the B6.1 for Astro and B6.1D for Dirt for now. I'm just planning to have one B6.1D to run on both Astro and Dirt. So I was wondering should I sell my B6.1D and get a B6.1 instead for both Astro and Dirt. Once again, thanks for the advice. Much appreciated...

I wouldn't do that, the 6.1 and 6.1d is basically the same car. The only differences are the diff, transmission case, center brace, idler gear, 6.1d has a taller rear shock tower and shocks, and the springs and shock oils are different. The 6.1 adds more options such as the steel plates and sway bars. So your b6.1d is about 90% there to becoming a 6.1.

I am. I don't have an analyzer, but the motor is performing well at factory timing/gear ratio for medium size tracks. Getting 120F after a 6 minute main w/out a fan, so I could probably get away with one or two more teeth on the pinion. Idk if it helps but it seems like they set it up nicely out of the box.

Building a b6.1 now for 17.5 carpet. How tight on the slipper? Small to medium tracks. Slipper eliminator?

Just wondering, considering the recent Factory Lite B6.1D release, do you think the 6.1 is here to stay for a while? It's already a great kit, there are only a handful of things they could meaningfully improve upon that I can think of, which wouldn't be enough to justify a new kit anytime soon.

schelle direct drive. It uses the stock top shaft . You can also cut the slipper screw that holds the clutch spring short and mount the fan like the B6

So ... The plastic bulkhead breaks, I get that. But, if its replaced with the aluminum version, what's the next component in the chain of failure? Arms? Hinge pins?
