It was great to have Pegasus in great shape even for just a couple of years. Scott and Matt got it to a level I had never previously seen it at, and their commitment during that time was stellar. Unfortunately, that commitment may have worn on them to the point that they could now longer give that much time, and the end result is what we see now. Unfortunately, I don't think the management of the Pegasus Hobby Shop really sees the value (and profitability) of having a quality racing track attached to their hobby shop the way some other shop/tracks do, and thus have not been consistently committed to the track or those who run it. Because of this, the track is run by people who do it for passion and not for profit, so when the passion wanes... no more good track at Pegasus.

I am bummed about the state of things... I love to race outdoors.

JBRL will be there in July so I would imagine that the track will be in some sort of racing condition by then.

Speaking of JBRL any hints from Pegasus guys on how they plan to prepare the track? Run it wet or are they going to try and sugar it again this year? Trying to prepare for tires!

Thanks.

Thanks Joey. That does not answer how the track will be prepared but great to hear they may have a program going again. I have to assume this might be based off IERC sudden shutdown?

It will be interesting to see how long that relationship lasts. Notch always runs a good efficient program and is good about track maintenance. Pegasus ownership believes in the polar opposite of that philosophy. I hope it works out.

I have no insight into track prep for JBRL. Maybe discuss directly with Notch/Jimmy?

I was hoping Notch or someone from Pegasus might pop in. Jimmy does not really have control over it and I have asked him. If the track maintence is changing hands though things might change. It really is up to the track crew as to what they will do just hoping to get some insight to prepare for tires for that event. Might just bring everything! LOL

if they run the track wet then you'll need pin tires. soft/super soft fronts and rears. holeshots, blockades, square fuzzies, switches, megabytes, gigabytes all work the best there for the rear. fronts you can either run ribs or pin tires. holeshots work great up front but so do ribs i also liked the hbi fullslots alot too.

if they sugar the track then the usual. x2 suburbs rear x2 transistors front or similar compounds/tread patterns.

Thanks. I have a good feel for what tires will work if I know the expected conditions. The issue is they could be trying to keep it wet (been there) or they can try and run it dry (see it too) just very different tires for each and I was hoping I could get an answer from someone more official related to the track if we could see what they were intending to do.

Just read an article on rcinsider.com about Notch taking over the racing program at peg. Hope it does well...
