im new to rc's probly roughly 6 months . had china cookie buggy that crumbled and got a decent one now ,i just brought a go tech 5port for it to.
have a few questions about the engine.

i used the heatgun on it and put foil round the head and it fired first pop but wouldnt keep running( very rich i think) i had to leave the glow ignitor on for it to keep running? is this normal?

also i was only using not even quarter throttle and thing looked like it wanted to pull a tree stump out the ground. is it to lean? its got heaps of smoke splattering all over the joint tho so im confused!

everything is brand spanking new ive only ran 1 tank so far like that but wanted to get some advise b4 i keep going with it.

mate sounds okey as long as you are rich and keeping the temps up it good , if leave your high speed needle flush and you should have a long low speed needle which most of your tuning should be done by ]if it doesnt idle very well at all you may be to rich down the bottom mate ...

check out www.massivemods.com.au and there you will find all the info on a succesful run in mate , thats the way i do it and all my motors perform xtremeley strong :nod:

Massive Mods question
 

I have a brand new gen 4 .21 5 port that has been sitting around for a good 2years. I took the rod out of it and used it in another of my engines. My question is, what do I need to buy to get this gen 4 going? Are the new GX conrods the same size as the gen 4's rod? Will I need a new crank as well? Will a GX crank and rod fit in the gen 4 crank case?

Hi herb, All you should need is a new con rod. As far as I know the newer improved con rods (same part number 21-0600) fit the Gen 4, 5, 5.5 and GX motors.
You won't need a new crank, but the new coated crank should slip straight in if you want to upgrade, along with the Gen 5 and 5.5 cranks also. I am running a Gen 5.5 crank in my old Gen 4 7 Port, and it hums along very nicely :)

this weekend coming i might give my MG66 a rest the weekend off and race with my moded 7 port which is a ball terror :lol: its hard to take the mg66 out of my car it looks sweet as with the black head on it :nod:
