Here are some pics, only thing i wasnt sure about is the cloudy colouration on the bottom half of the piston (its only on the one side). Other than that, the piston feels completely smooth with no rough spots or burrs.

Looks sweet :) Singer oil is cool. Any light weight 3 in 1 oil or ATF is good.
Make sure you clean thouroughly and lube everything when it goes back together. |
yep looks good :)
hay grizz you preparing for the nationals soon mate |

hay grizz you preparing for the nationals soon mate Only bummer is I won't be running the MG66 at the event. I have given it to one of our top drivers to use for the event. He has a good chance of a top 5 finish, so I figured it would be a much better promotion for the motor, than my 1/4 final appearance at best  I have my trusty Stage 5 5 Port which I have spruced up with a ceramic main and a crank polish etc. It pulls real hard, so I am looking forward to playing with that anyway. We have a good bunch of guys making the trip, so it will be a blast. I had my buggy all ready to go, but I have raced it twice in the last fortnight, so it's rebuild time again over the next few days. Just the basics, diffs and shocks. Everything else is holding together nicely. Will let you know how team GO go's :D |
good to hear mate :) look forward to hearing the results :)
well today the mg66 was faultless wicked motor it is  my only gripe is my bloody car yet again failed befor the end of the final world yu beleive the pivot ball came apart into 2 peices :cry:i was 2 laps down from the start got my self backinto 6 spot and then failure i had a DNS and a DNF and still managed 7 spot :lol:e good if i finished time for new buggy i have had enough of this one :sneaky: might try the new Xray 2009 spec |
You won't be disapointed with the X-Ray mate. Very strong, light and fast buggy. I have been racing mine for 11 months and have not actually broken anything !!!! Yep, I have never not finished a heat or final due to car breakage in nearly a year (nor motor failure :) ). The buggy has taken some big hits I can tell you, but they are very strong. Set up is a breeze. They perform real good straight out of the box with the kit set up. Made a few tweaks to mine over the time I have had it to suit my driving style, and it's great.

Cool :) Let me know when your up and running and I will send you some basic changes you can make to the kit set up to make it a real flyer :sneaky:.
Contact Michael (aussies1129 I think) on this forum. He is North Queensland and runs the X-Ray with MG66. He will have some good info and feedback for you too. Welcome to the team :D |
Hi Guys, ran my first race with the MG66 yesterday....what a motor! Ran all day with the 6.5 restrictor and still had way more grunt down every straight than pretty much everyone. I found that the power was pretty smooth from low revs through to full noise and alwasy plenty of it.Fuel Economy was great all day and i led the A-main, after starting from 9th, for almost every lap until the body flew off! We have the Gold Coast Cup this coming weekend over 2 days. Will let you all know how it goes.
