MIni Nats.
Arrrived back in Brisbane to see a lot of devastation from the cyclonic storms over the weekend. Short of a lot of damp, all good at home.
Special thanks to the Club, Tim. Gary, PJ, George, Nick and a super big thanks to the lovely ladies in the canteen that kept the caffeine flowing, the pies hot and the cheerful support even when serving a brake cleaner and foam flat white! Cameron winning the Pullstart put a few smiles in the canteen area too!!
The surface was great to race on, the competition level was up to national levels and the atmosphere in the pits and garages were as usual, fired up for racing and very welcoming to interstate visitors.
Was good to catch up with friends and race with the best in the country, putting brands and teams aside, very glad Jeff came down for what was an awesome performance from all the top runners.
Luke was very happy with his result and while Wayne should have edged him out, his flame-outs werent as harsh overall and there was only one position lost. Ryan Maker didnt have a good weekend with his engines, but then Jordan Cullis rose to the occasion to keep the field strong. Ricky wasnt lucky either with diff / outdrive issues that put him out of the Final early. If luke didn't perform there were several drivers in pursuit that would have taken the spot so it was hard racing, as it always is at Lilydale.
Luke and I were watching the footage on the camera at the airport on the small Camera's LCD and he couldnt work out which he was which says a lot for his pace in the A-Main. As Steve from SA said, it's like a MINI NATS, to be honest I think it was tougher on the top guys than it was for us!
PJ Snr didnt give me an earful for being too rich in the final and while we rip the pi$$ regularly, his team support, parts availability really makes a lot of difference when racing at that level, it does distract him from his own racing, yet Im sure there isnt a Capricorn driver that doesnt appreciate what he does for all of us.
Great to see the ACT and SA boys there too, we had a great event and the weather was great too. Will get video sorted in the coming week, there's over 2 hours footage to ingest and edit...
Thank you...
