Most races here only allow Rubber, either Ride, or GQ tires.

I enjoy running with rubber since its more "realistic" but biggest factor is rubber last a lot longer than foam. Not a huge fan on constantly monitoring and adjusting the ride height and literally watch your money turn into foam dust and litter all over the track.

What GQ tires do you like on asphalt? I bought the ss rears and there is a huge air gap. I prefere a tire with more full insert.

From what I remember, they run the M in the front and SS or SSS in the rear. They use that as control tire for their club races. Ive ran on GQ tires as they first rolled out and it absolutely sucked. My car would not hook up at all. Ive since changed to Pit Shumizu and Ride tires and they both performed very well.

If you are looking for an asphalt setup, I used to use in my Yokomo:
1.5mm caster,
1mm camber,
Ride Yellow Big Bore spring on front,
Silver Side Spring from Team Saxo (VBC Side spring is softer, it could work)
5-5.5mm front height and between 6mm-7.5mm on the rear.
750 cst on the center damper and the same on the side damper.

All these with the Ride XR tyres.

I´ll try the new VBC this weekend.

I just changed the main damper for the Flash-04 one. Now it doesn´t have that noisy play and works really smooth.

For my track Im running:
short wheelbase
8.2 degree caster
5 degree active caster
1 degree camber
Most forward ackerman setting
Ride front soft spring
Stock yellow VBC yellow spring
700cst oil
8000cst damper tube oil
VBC hard side springs
around 5mm ride height front, 5.5 rear

I run on the old Ride tires, the newer Ride XR tires, and Pit Shumizu 573 front 572 rear

Has anyone figured out how to get the diff to feel like a high quality one? Mine is smooth but it never sins freely unless it is slipping badly.
meanwhile here is a picture of my new paint.....

Ceramic diff balls help. Also 1000-2000 grit wet sand paper makes them nice and smooth.

Usually ceramic balls are not needed. I have always sanded my diff rings smooth but what I think the diff needs is a thrust bearing. I have ordered a tamiya thrust bearing for thr f104. Ill let you know what I find....

Thrust bearing is a must for high grip carpet, the f104 one works great.
You also want to stack the thrust washers to gain clamping force. Another option is to use the new Vbc Kawada spur that takes 18 diff balls.

When using thrust bearing install as so

Thruswasher)()nut

Both thrust washers and thrust bearing are availabe at www.gripworksrc.com

I have the new spur gear. Im running on high grip asphalt sprayed with Mountain Dew.....Is there enough room in the diff housing for the thrust bearing and 3 cone washers? You leave the factory 5x11mm in there right?

The thrust bearing is installed instead of the 5x11 bearing. When you tighten the diff enough you will end up replacing the bearing a lot. Any board taps will also take out the stock bearing. I run mine with 3 washers no issues

16, the diff is smoother and has more bite. So you don't have to tighten it down so hard. That being said. The new Kawada 94t spur takes 18 balls and works even better
