I can see you have TA05R already, my question is.....why add more BLING? (LOL)......I ran my TA05R stock with 4.5.........car survived with 15 minutes plus hard racing outdoor........beside I bent the rear inner pin myself for stupid mistake that I did, the "R" actually handling and stand pretty good already without EXTRA options...

But still, for my "R", I will have the rear aluminum upright (Zero degree), front 1-way (for stock and 19T) or SPOOL (for mod).......center 1-way ONLY if you are runnign stock/19T without the front 1-way...it is optional. Then...maybe front/rear carbon fiber shock towers..........

Thats it...the R has all the needed option already.......I buy TAMIYA option because that will make my "R" TCS race legal...beside, I think Tamiya options parts are a little better quality.

If you just wanted to race, the only upgradesd to the R would be Tamiya carbon towers and spacers, and a 3racing chassis conversion.

3Racing conversion I would say is not necessary.

Oh, Sorry guys. It's for the TA05 non-R my son runs. I wanted to upgrade some of parts on his car and was wondering about the quality of the other stuff. All these hop ups are starting to cost a bundle!

I don't care about bling, we just want to go fast!

3 racing suspenion blocks are good, chassis conversion is good, motor mount is good, the rest is just eye candy.

With regard to the 3Racing chassis conversion, it gives a more stable platform, more room and it handles really well.

It really depends on how you look at the "VALUE" of your TA05....for me, I want to see how a $200 TA05R can race again the top $ TC. Thats why I am very limited to the options required for the TA05R....at the end, I think the R is good enough to race against the top car (outdoor) with only couple more reinforced (Durability wise) option....car is just fast enough.

If you ask what need to be added onto the TA05....I would think the following...

(1) Front 1-way (stock 19T motor)
(1a) Spool (mod motor)
(1b) Center 1-way (stock or 19T motor if you want to keep the front diff)
(2) Rear aluminum upright zero degree
(3) Front CVD (steel...not aluminum)...rear can be stock dogbone
(4) TRF shocks (must have...)
(5) Sway bar kits (indoor or outdoor...)
(6) Spring kits...
(7) carbon fiber (F/R) shock towers

Still....the above can cost you $120-150......may be you should use the TA05 for spare and buy a $200 TA05R instead. Too bad the stock TA05 are not even close (parts wise) compare to TA05R...otherwise, I will buy a $110 stock TA05 just for spare.......remember, a Tamiya body is good $45 alone....either NSX or SC430 are what I really want. Then leave the rest of the parts for only $65-75. But only less then 30% of the parts are usable for TA05R...

Oh honestly...the 05 doesn't require that much go-fast hopups. Tamiya makes everything you'd really need...

I'd go with the High Precision Diff Joints (or the Aluminum ones, stock diffs aren't convincing enough for me...), Low-Friction Belts, Aluminum suspension mounts (the stock ones break easily), graphite/carbon-fibre shock tower, universals, some springs, and a spool/one-way (depending on what motor is run).

Here is my almost ready TA-05R equipped with clear blue parts. I know they are not as durable as the black ones but I think they look great. I have already ordered some hop-ups and will use original plastic parts for racing.

Clear is cool! looks great.

Has anybody actually broken any of the clear TA05 parts?

I've been racing with mine for a few months and so far so good.

The only parts I've broken have been a tobee craft alloy turnbuckle on the steering and the 2 rear body posts after launching a metre in the air and landing on the roof

Thanks for all the advice guys. We're just club racing so I was interested in the easier 'go fast' hop ups. I guess most of what I'm hearing though is to stick with the Tamiya stuff instead of the other HK made stuff?

I'm thinking I need to buy another TA05-R.
(BTW, where can you get one for $200? I paid $250!)

thanks again!

BTW, I love the clear blue look- but I doubt it would survive my driving!

Has anyone raced with the clear blue wheels yet? I have all the clear blue parts NIP and don't have the guts to race them.

RC Champ is a good bet. Send an email to Masa at[email protected] .

Their price was 17250 Yen, so you should be able to take delivery from them for about $200 including courier charge.

anti-roll bars are not needed, I tried them, and ditched them, car drove better without them.

Ive not tried them, but my guess is you'll save some weight at the cost of reliability.

Tap a board and I reckon you will chip a wheel easily. Keep the blue parts for a shelf car, unless you want to risk a good result with an incident.

Id probably use the blue parts for very occasional use, they dont look like they will last long.
