It pretty easily moves by several mm even when it's tight. The single hole for the inside mount isn't adequate, which is why you see the T3'13 prototypes and other companies going with two holes along the centerline for the mount.
I've gone back to using the inside mount and shoe goo which has been great.

Traxxas 500K diff lube (easiest to find for me). You almost need to fill the diff completely, otherwise the diff action won't be consistent. Some guys use gray cleaning putty, while others use a foam earplug.

I would agree with this most of the time.
I was a big advocate of the gear diff in the front, the mechanics behind it just make so much more sense than a spool.
However, on most tracks a spool still is slightly quicker and slightly easier to drive.
I do find it is track specific though, if you need more initial steering on a very tight track, a gear diff will be quicker.
Bare in mind that i run either 13.5t or 10.5t boosted. In 17.5t blinky, a gear diff may give even more benefits.

Why if you don't mind me asking are you trying to change the piston's? I have heard of people adding holes or making them bigger etc. But most people just run the 3 hole piston.
Same concept are you refering to the price of said product or just cause you don't want to run Xray o-rings?

The xray pistons come attached to a plastic frame, you have to use a sharp blade to remove them which generally leaves the edge of the piston a bit rough. this effects how the piston moves in the shock body. Im after a piston that comes loose and does not need to be removed from a plastic frame. I know alot of xray team drivers where I race change the o rings, personal choice I guess.
As for the o-rings I used the stock ones thats what Paul told me to use.
