Ah ok, I'd be wanting to start about 5.5 overall and keep checking the temp

That's about 102 spur and 36 pinion

Just keep temping it after a few minutes in Practise. Or find out what the other guys at your track are gearing at and work from there. Hth

hey guys im going to be getting this car to race in my local vta class, and i have a few questions. first off how does the front of the body mount on the chassis since there are no stops on the body posts? and another thing for a little while before i get the 25.5 motor, i will be running g the traxxas velinion 10.5t motor with no boost in to the car. what pinion gear is a good starting point for the 10.5? thanks guys

You can use the "floppy" body mounts from an Xray T3 or whatever, CLICK HERE. They will work just fine on this car. Or you can just put some body clips under and use them as the mounting points.. it's what I'm doing right now and it works just fine.

As far as gearing I'd start at 5.5 and work up/down based on temp/speed. The Velinion is a bit of an oddball so it's hard to tell where to gear it. With the included Spur you'd want a 29 pinion as a starting point. (84/29=5.5). I'd buy a 32T, 29T, 26T, and 24T for testing/tuning.

S1 turned up today - not bad considering I ordered it on Tuesday evening from rcMart.

Time to build a 1/10th TC for the first time in 7 years

I was in the same boat man, my last TC was the AE TC3 FT kit. I preordered it and got it a month before street date.

Two suggestions..

1: 3mm TAP! Tap the ball cups if you aren't going to replace them before you try and screw them together.

2: Flanged bearings for the layshaft! Just order them and install them. With a Kimbro Spur you'll not need any spacers at all, or the Kit spacers if you use a Spec-R or other thin spur. 5x8x2.5mm flanged is the ticket.

Keeping the stock ballcups for now, shall make sure I tap them beforehand. I'll grab some flanged bearings too - saw those posted a few days ago so I'll see what I can get. Not in a rush to run it right now anyway.

Quick question on the kit not including grease, I've got some AE Green Slime, AE Black Grease and a bit of Tamiya Ceramic grease, I'd assume those will do? Green on the shocks, black everywhere else near enough?

Last sunday there was a friend who works in a RC shop and he was running an R1 and the car looks great, the car has lot's of potential from what i did see.
The guy had a bad crash and the rear suspension arm was in pieces, it looked like the big crash at the belgian F1 race in spa.
Lucky for him he has the right spare parts along with him.
When i looked at the car the first thing i checked was the spur, but it didn't had slop.
He said that there are spacers included in the kit to prevent that.
One thing i did notice was that the car was more overall narrower then my TRF416X, perhaps this has something to do with the suspension setup inserts.
Overall i was impressed about this new chassis.
