They'll probably have Sunon in somewhat every electronics store or they can order it.

2 questions:
I have a 5.5 that I use in a 4 cells Mini RS4 chassis, do I need the Novak capacitor? I don't have a lot of room in this chassis and I wanted to know if it was possible to remove it.
Did someone ever tried to dye the orange case in black???
Thanks a lot .
Gilles

I've successfully run a 5.5R and GTB system in my 1/12th car - including the 2006 Euros and recent 1/12th Worlds in Italy
The only setting change I've made is to lower the initial drive - from factory setting to the lowest. That gives a better response on initial throttle movement.
My 1/12th runs with a reciever pack. That keeps the RX voltage up, and I;ve trieed running both with and without the Novak capacitor fitted. Didn't seem to make any difference taking it off....
Also ran without the GTB fan fitted - even with the fan off the GTB only fits under competivie 1/12th bodies if they are cut well below the cut-lines! Given Italy and the Euros were very hot, no thermal issues...probably because we only run 4-cells.
Hope that helps. A braver man would have tried the 4.5R...mind you the 5.5R in a 1/12th is plenty fast enough
Hope that helps

MarkB-would you mind shooting a picture and posting it?
I have now put several battery packs through my 5.5 velociti//gtb in my XRay and I got to say its quite stout as well. Feels very 8x1 like. I am still struggling a bit with it feeling like its got drag brake in slow corners and I keep having to drive slow corners at partial throttle which is not that easy on foams. I turned the drag brake off and have no drag in my radio.
When I run a brushed 7 or 8 turn I like to lift off throttle into corners and "freewheel" mid corner and start to roll back into it. Its hard to get used to having to leave throttle input in mid corner.

Last time out was much better with the help from Jason at BMI. Came in second at the yearly Revo race with the brushless. I have even more things to try the next time out after talking with Charlie. It's looking pretty good though. I didn't have to cut a motor all day

The capacitor is just a boost bottle (nitro term), essentially. All it does is help with acceleration. Capacitors can dump power FAR quicket than a battery can. So under braking or coasting, when power from the batts isn't being used, the capacitor takes in power. Then when throttle is applied, especially if full throttle is applied, the capacitor dumps all of it's power in an instant so you get instant and maximum acceleration. The only difference between having the cap and not having it will be acceleration.

Testing the 5.5r in a 10 pan, 4.5r in a MSX and a 5.5r in a 1/5 bike, on asphalt this weekend. Ill tell all how it went

And how does it aid in cooling?
Even Novak doesn't say it aids in cooling. They say the fan does, but not the cap.

Ahh. Increasing effenciency by making sure that when full throttle is applied, and the flood gates open wide, the motor gets as much power as it wants right away, I bet. If it didn't the motor would be trying to pull power through which the batts couldn't supply and then things would start to heat up.
Anyone know if that's correct?
