Default f104pro with lrp 4.5t

Experimenting with 1S with booster and LRP 4.5t. Damn its quick, so quick the rear tyres come off the rims. And i have to turn down the throttle epa to compensate. Low end it feels good, and has heaps of brakes. Any one got any thoughts on 1S setups for the f104?

A couple of pic's of the F60.

I started the body work by painting the lower body and pod sections in black. I decided to hand paint instead of spray and I'm pleased with my first up effort. Awaiting arrival of the ferrari red to complete the body.
Lot's of little parts to paint of the F60 - bargeboards, induction pod and side pontoon, mirrors and are all sperate parts and get attached with double sided tape to the body. I'm not going the seperate side pontoon's on this one, cut it all as one piece. I'll see how it turns out.

The wings were a lot of fun . I think they have come out alright with only one annoying air bubble in the front wing. I wish it came with the bar code (again).

At RCM the majority of us run the stock silver can. I run a small 2s lipo but some are running sticks packs. There are a few brushless cars but that clearly isn't a huge advantage since the consistant winner every week runs a silver can and he drives the wheels of the thing.

We ran an 8 minute main last night. It was great!

Hi guys,

very tempted by one of these, sorry if it's covered somewhere in the thread but if I ran one what is space like for:

1. Esc's, would be looking to run an SP GT2 LPF, will this fit?
2. Motors, is there plenty of room for brushless?
3. Will standard hardcase 2s stick lipo's fit?

Plenty of room for brushless, see pic attached
Smaller the better for ESC
And yes on standard 2S Hardcase

Talking More tyre/tire data points

Had a fun day racing today. Missed the heats, but ran three finals. Decided to try a different tyre combination for each race to see if I could learn some more about the different tyres.

Outdoor, medium-grip asphalt in a little bit need of a clean, the track temperature today was about 68degC (154degF), so would be on the warm side
  • First race, Tamiya F104 rubber tyres. Best lap 23.461, average of best 5: 23.691
  • Second race, Tamiya F104 "B" foams. Best lap 22.921, average of best 5: 23.090
  • Third race, Spice SPF-802, SPF-804 foams. Best lap 22.960, average of best 5: 23.251

So, for the warm day that it was, the foams ruled, but the rubber ones were respectable. Had previously treated them with FXII earlier in the week, but they got up to speed fairly quickly. The foams were untreated.

Only embarrassing moment was having one of the Spice foams come clean off the rim as I went around a left hander. Hadn't put enough glue on

Final caveat: this is all one person's experience at one track, but I thought it was worth sharing

Default handling problem

im running out of ideas on how to correct what i think is called "corner exit over steer". on high speed sweeping corners im trying to change direction but the car just spins out. The track is low grip asphalt.

tried pretty much everything,
hard/soft front springs
(a's front and rear), (b's front a's rear), (103 c's rear 104 a/b's front ) i dont think its the tyres.
shock is 200 and tamiya red spring.
removed the pivot screw
1.3 and 1.4 flex plate
gumby mode on tekin rs pro, 0 boost, 0 turbo
geared it to remove low end torque

adding some weight behind the motor made a slight difference, but how can i correct the problem without adding weight?

any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

I have a question for you guys running the new F60 body. Do you notice any difference in handling from the F104 pro body?

We run Thursday nights with racing starting at 7pm till about 10-10:30 (practice would be as earlier as 11am when he opens) and Sunday starting at 12pm to 5-6pm depending on what classes are running. (practice starting around 9ish when Chris gets there)

The Jam is Sunday the 17th with practice on Saturday the 16th. Should be a big turn out and a great day.

need opinion...when looking at the front of your car from the chassis level, if you look at the servo are your steering tierods perfectly horizontal or are they lower at the servo and higher at the wheel upright? the center screw of my servo is exactly 30mm from the chassis. would having them straighter(horz.) give me less bump steer? Thoughts, Thanks, Fat

I spent some time sorting that out on my 104.
Looking from the top, or front of the car, the steering arms are parallel with the A-arms.
When you compress the front suspension there is no visible toe change of the wheels. I believe this gives the car more stability on uneven surfaces, however it might be at the cost of slightly less corner entry bite.

Zharn.
For low traction situations I might try.
Toe-in.
Remove oil from rear damper.
Hard front springs.
And with the 104 I always run the front in Camber position (1)
Also the diff will have to be very smooth and loose, this is probably the most important adjustment for corner exit grip.

I'd say try that with the best combination of tires you had so far

Hope that helps
