For Steen the transverse motor makes a little bit more traction and more easy to drive but not as fast in reaction.

Alex,

My opinion: it is better to use max possible size spurs: 95-98 for 64p
and 71-73 for 48p.

Thanks Oleg, that matches up with my experience from the transverse mounting before.... will add it back to the list to test!

Mr. Ed,

I enjoy reading your TITC postings on your site, any chance you'll be finishing up your report anytime soon? I know you won F1, congrats.

Steve

PS, To John D.,

That was also another impressive set of pictures and review of the Awesomatix, I also enjoy your postings.

Thanks.
All race photos and videos are courtesy of www.rcdevil.gr. (you may use translator if you want to read through some of their reports)
It's a shame that the car looks pretty bad in the videos. The A700 had been great until that Sunday morning. For some reason the track was different and I had no knowledge on how to react with set up changes.
I need more practice to get to grips with the unconventional design.
Hope to get some more footage of the car in good form from future races.

John

Have not seen you for years, you have to come to Canada for a WICICS race. Have fun this weekend..

EDIT: Sorry, didn't previously see the answer from Oleg above.

I cannot help you with exact gear ratios for 17.5 as there are so many factors with those motors and track size. But I suspect you'll want to be somewhere around 7.5 - 8 for the 5.5T, and 8.3-8.8 for the 4.5T.

As far as what gets you to those ratios, check the end of the manual found on the download site, spur gears and internal ratios are listed.

Default dry wax lube

As to dry wax lube.
Difficult to get the brand you suggest. I live in Europe you see.
Would this one do the trick as well? Or better not use it?

Yep, looks extremely similar. Pretty much all of these products are some variant of a 3M lube.

Default Spurs for Awesomatix A700

What brand of spurs best to use?

I use speedtechrc's spurs, because they sell 70-73 (48 pitch) at a reasonable price. If using 64 pitch nearly any spur will work, I know spurs for Xray's fit just fine, but do look at the gearing guides on pages 39 and 40 for the sizes that fit the car, they are smaller than typical cars due to physical constraints of various chassis parts.

Sorry, Speedtechrc's spurs not easy to get my hands on in Europe.
Any suggestions as to other brands that would fit?
Looked at XRay but the holes seem somewhat different. I am in doubt here.

Are those horizontal extensions on the rear bodyposts in the kit?
If not what partnumber and what do they cost?
No, but posts from Xray work great. Just a little trimming needed.

The ones you suggested are the bodposts. Maybe you are mistaken here?
Any suggestions as to which parts to use here?

I was trying to give you examples, while I'm pretty darn sure that XRay spurs do fit, they don't make the sizes you'll want. If I were you, I'd use Google to search for something like "48-pitch spur gear 71T", that'll get you in the size range you want...looks like lots of options. Anything that claims to work on a typical TC car, will almost definitely work on the A700.
