No im sorry i should have been more specific. Diff gears and diff cases are all new. Ring and pinion and gearbox i was trying to reuse. Yes i greased them with losi black grease. I ordered new gearboxes today because after more inspecting the gearbox is definitely beat. Could a worn out gearbox case cause that?

I mean i understand its not going to be completely silent but something seems off

Sounds right to me. Did you check the play? You mentioned shimming but then took the shim back out?

Yes i removed the shim between the pinion because it was causing binding.

Pinion too close? Hmm. How would i go about fixing that? I know shimming to bring the pinion closer..but not sure what i could do to move it father away.

Im hoping the new gearboxes help.....my front has significant wear.

It's easiest to shim the diff left to right. Where are you seeing wear on the housings?

Sent PM, but will post same here to share with others.

Yes Sir. That noise is the ring gear mesh too tight against the pinion. Most likely your diff bearing is not fully seated on the new diff case. You can take it back apart to check, but first I would give the out drive cup a good tap with hammer to fully seat bearing on the case. The new cases are a tight fit for bearings when new. A good tap on the left / passenger side should provide immediate results. If not take it apart. I sometime use a 1/8 scale wheel wrench to seat these bearings. Be careful not to damage bearing.

When removing these bearing from the new case it is very easy to damage the case causing the plastic to have witness marks that can rub the bearing causing friction. Just be careful if the bearings need to be removed again. Let me know how it turns out.

That makes sense considering i was struggling to seat the new bearings on the new case. And like mentioned in my pm.....the diff was very tight in the gearbox with literally no side to side play at all......

Default MOTOR SIZE QUESTION

Hi guys I'm back and I'm coming in hot !!! hahaha

I've been busy with kids and work but the RC bug has always been there . I just picked up a SCTE 2.0 roller and I'm wondering if the 8th scale size motors fit this chassis and motor mount with out mods? I looked at the main page and it seems that 8th scales would fit the 1.0 but I want to be sure before I pull the plug on a nice 8th scale Orion set up . I wont be racing on any sanctioned tracks just in my friends back yard so I'm not too worried about the rules . Thanks gurus

Are you planning to run 3s or 4s?

2-3 and 4s lol It's back yard racing so sometimes we say were running 2s and throw down a 3s just to screw with each other .lol. I just want to make sure the motor can will actually fit without modification on a 2.0

Motor will fit. Will likely over power the truck for anything more that just pure bashing.

Thank you . I just want it to be reliable and handle a few back to back 2 or 3 cell races . We usually will do best of 4 laps over and over until one of our batteries dies which tends to get the 10th scale stuff pretty warm . I wish it was censored but for the money and my budget it seems perfect . I also know the ESC well as I have one in my emaxx and its pretty dang smooth for what it is . Thanks again .

If geared properly should run till the battery dies. We really don't run "10th scale stuff" as we run 4 pole motors. The Tekin 4300HD is a monster of a motor in this truck. It is 2S only though. They do make ones that go 2S/3S. I would recommend something like Spektrum AVC is you are planning to run 3S or 4S power through this truck.
