Ok let me see if I can recap today. We saw some new faces and some faces we haven't seen in a while. Saw some close racing and some blowouts even a race that started with a decent sized field and attrition decided the winners.
Novice saw the Jacobs boys doing battle with each other once again and making definite strides towards moving up. Matthew did once again take the win with Andrew in second. I have some ideas on how the club can maybe give these boys a push towards leaving the novice class but I am going to need some club help.
Buggy class saw the return of Ashton Brewer, Brian Pflibson and Shawn Mientus. These guys are fast and race very well together. Ashton took the TQ and proceeded to go to work as soon as the race started even though his transponder didn't. He did however dominate the race from wire to wire with Shawn and Brian rounding out the top three.
Stadium truck now here is where everything came off the rails. Despite having the TQ for the race Ashton started at the back of the pack and then proceeded to try to drive through every one. The Losi 22t is a tough truck but when you try to run over the field it finds its limit. Ashton busted a front spindle and then I heard him tell the marshall to rip the wheel off. His truck on three wheels he floundered a bit and dropped out early but not before turning in some good laps for only having three wheels. Brian Pflipson and Josh Dawson had checked out on the field but Shawn Mientus was determined to run them down and he caught Josh and was doing his best to catch Brian when Brians battery dumped Handing the win over to Shawn with Josh finishing second and Brian rounding out the top three. I would like to mention this race started with six trucks and one finished without something wrong and that was Josh. Wayne Jacobs and Roger Lowery both dropped out do to equipment failures as well and Shawn finished the race with a truck that would barely turn right thanks to a servo arm screw backing out.
4wd shortcourse saw Bill Horman and Darren Hooker do battle in the main and both drivers while still fairly new at this showed good improvement. Darren took the win over Bill but both put in some really good laps.
2wd shortcourse was Bill Horman and PJ Palmer do battle PJ ran a good race and Bill struggled with the handling on his slash. PJ took the win with Bill finishing second.
Today was an overall good day but I don't think anyone went home tonight without some wrenching to do on something. We all have those days at the track but today we decided to have one together. I had a blast and it was a great time.
I want to thank Matthew Jacobs for calling the heat races and everyone who pitched in to make today go smooth. This is a club effort and it takes all of us to make it work.
