Home track of Valkaria R/C is a large asphalt track and I've yet to use the V16 there. Hopefully before too long I can test/race the V16 there.
Fresno Hobbytown the track is 75' wide 175' long it has 220' of full punch so I'm probably going to go 3.1 gearing

17.5 1/12 blinky. What’s a good timing or amp draw starting point?
45x75 track.

I've just picked up a v16 13.5 and was about to solder it up when I noticed the A tab slides to the left a bit when you apply a minimal amount of force. Is this normal? It moves about a mm or two.

I don't want to open it up for fear on invalidating any warranty. And I don't want to solder it up in case it's a big issue.

I just purchased a r1 v16 17.5 was wondering what timing would be ideal for this type of racing and what gearing would be good? I currently run a fantom v2t 17.5 my current gearing is a 51/96

Mine seemed really loose too. I put a touch of shoe goo on the endbell side of tabs. My motor was making some crazy noises with cheapy esc. Buzzing peeping bell sounds. Esc worked fine on other motors. (Think the frequency was 2 high.) I installed mamba x now it is perfectly quiet. With cheap esc timing at 45 with fdr at 8 wheeler. Was fast but not 🚀 levels. Any tips. Thanks. But whatever.

Anyone know where to get (or size specifications) to retrofit aluminum motor screws, timing sensor screws, and Aluminum timing clamps on these motors?

Anyone have the newer motors sound like an electronic cricket? Runs awesome but right out the box sounds like an electronic feedback sound. I see others had noises with esc, running a Hobbywing Stock Specv4 so I know its not that. Wondering if anyone figured it out, maybe a timing adjustment or bearing alignment issue?

Ya it is your esc. Mine made chirps, beeps, bell and buzzing noise with Chinese cheap esc. I upgraded to castle x. All noises went away. It also ran about 50 degrees cooler. 130 was 180. Think the frequency was to high. If you can lower the drive frequency
On your esc that would probably quite it down give more power and run cooler.maybe adding some capacitors could help with the esc you Have? (think those noises are the armature cavataing/vibrating like a speaker. Huge waste of power. also is hard on the motor?) I did more research I actually now think the frequency was to low/Not good firmware. Only info I could find was from rc airplane forums and guys building there own esc. (So my advice would be to get a good quality esc.

Mine works fine but another guy at the track has interesting noises. It changes pitch but doesn't go away when he changes drive frequency. I'm using a Hobbywing 3.1 ESC and he's using the XR10 Pro. He also has heat problems with his. Next race I might offer to swap motors for a race to see if it's the motor or the ESC configuration.

With all newer chassis’s they lowered the motor position, what I do is dremel the lower screw on motor closest to chassis on an angle and it clears the chassis and I wouldn’t want to mill chassis as you are weakening that part of chassis

The guy at my track that gets the funny noises is using a V16 and has checked it on his analyser. His V15 on his older ESC (Reventon?) was fine. I don't know if he's tried the V16 on the old ESC or the V15 on his new ESC.

Its a V16. Tried changing ESC frequency from 8k down to 1k. Same noise. Haven't looked on a analyzer. Tempted to adjust timing on the motor up and down about 10 degrees to see if any affect.
