The new 2016 X-Ray XB8E Buggy looks to have an ORCA VX8 in the pictures of the buggy.
Is it a speed controller that will be released?
Does it have a model #?

What is the difference between Stock Mode and Modified Mode in the VX3 ESC settings?
Which would be best when running 13.5 boosted?
The manual doesn't exactly go into much detail on a lot of the settings, or what they do say isn't clear.

In Stock mode I'm still able to add timing etc.

Yeah you can change it in the settings but it doesn't apply it and will still blink. I have suggested they remove those two options from the Stock/Blinky mode menu system for awhile, but they still show up.
You'll want to use Modified mode and set those to your liking. If I can make a suggestion, start by adding 10* timing, at 30% throttle with +2 timing interval and add 20* boost at +2 interval. Then set your punch to 4.
This will give you a very easy and reasonable setup to start with. If it doesn't accelerate enough you can bump the punch up one at a time. If you need more top end or for the added timing and/or boost to come in quicker you can change the interval to +1, then to 0, etc...

This was the setup I ended up on;
On my old ESC (Black Diamond) I could run around 40deg motor timing with 10-30deg bottom end timing (10 start, ramping up to 30) then at set rpm's it would ramp up the top timing to 55deg on the ESC and get motor temps 65-70degC.
I started yesterday with 55deg on the turbo and I *think* 30deg timing (to roughly replicate my old ESC and see what would happen.
The motor cam off in my first run around 85degC so I know I was loosing efficiency somewhere.
It's not like the car was beast mode quick either, comparable to my old ESC.
The only thing I changed which made very noticable difference was the turbo delay. I started with it set to 0.10s which gave a noticeable 'turbo lag'.
I dropped it down to 0.05s and it smoothed that right out.

To expand on what Luke just corrected himself on, my understanding is this:
Stock mode = If you think of it as a ramp, stock mode is aggressive in it's step's which gives you that "punchy" feel.
Mod mode= is a much smoother ramp, allowing you to have that "mellow" feel.
The above is directed more to 2S touring car as a rule of thumb, but one should totally exp with both settings while keeping everything else the same. Even in touring mod, some guys are running the speedo in stock mode.
In 1S ( 12th scale ) Most guys are running the stock mode for both spec classes and mod classes to make up for the mellow 1S voltage.
Hope that helps.
