Sorry for the lack of info, it's been a few weeks since I've run it, so I'll have to take more notes after tomorrow's race. I did find its power band a lot smoother, and easier to control on low traction asphalt. The Novak I'm currently running has been difficult to control at times, especially when the track is dusty. That's the main reason I've got the Orion back in the car now.

I tried gearing it all over the place. It seemed fastest when I geared it to come off around 180F, but that's generally hotter than I like to run my motors.

And the motors have been doing very well in the JBRL Electric offroad series as well with a TQ and win in Exp stock, and a 2nd in 19T at the last round in Camarillo.

So if you have a question about gearing or brushes, feel free to ask away!
What gearing did you use in the stock and 19t class at Hotrod? I'm planning on attending the nats' there and was planning on trying both brushed and brushless motors.

We geared the Core motor at 22/78 as well as the Element. He had very solid runs, even in the heat, which was about a 100 degrees. We ran the 3600 LiPO's with those combos.

As for brushless, I was geared at 29/78 with the new 10.5 in 2wd and 28/78 in 4wd. I think I could of gone up one tooth in the 4wd. Same LiPO's. At this moment, we are trying to figure out the optimal gearing for the 17.5. We just found a way to get smaller Kimbrough gears on to our cars and still retain the slipper. So stay tuned for that.

Actually, I was gearing the CORE and the ELEMENT 19T at 23/78. With the 3600 Orion Race Spec lipo, there was plenty of power. On the first day, the stock motor temps were very reasonable (around 170), but as the weekend got hotter, the motor temps started climbing. On the final day when outside temps were topping a 100 deg, the motor came off at around 220!!! Needless to say, it was a cut and brush every run. To be honest, I should have run it at 22/78 during the A-mains. In the last two rounds, the Core motor seemed to lose some of its grunt at about the 4 to 4:30 mark. It was just too hot outside to run that gearing.

For club racing, the 22/78 gearing seems to be real good for both motors, especially with the Orion Race Spec lipos pushing the motors.

I have a question regarding li-po's. Currently I'm running a 19t motor in a buggy, with a Li Po 3600 Orion. For whatever reason the pack seems to lack the punch that i get from My 4200 NiMH. Is this normal?

Really? I ran the Orion Element 19T in my RB5 with the 3600 Race spec and I felt that it had plenty of punch. What car, motor and gearing are you running?

I'm running the same buggy FTB4, a Trinity 19t along with the same settings I had when I was running my 4200 NiMH battery. Are you saying I have to change the gearing with a LIPO? As the charger goes I'm using a ICE Charging at 4.4A

i noticed when i went from 4200s to lipo i had to go up 2-3 teeth, and the buggy drove great after i did that, it felt more nimble.

I would actually go down to 3.6A on the charger.

That is SO nice to hear the speedo is going to be made by KO! I wouldn't have even considered it if it were going to be ANOTHER HobbyWing re-badge. I find it so, so funny that everyone thinks the Speed Passion GT is better than the HW Xerun, yet no one even knows whats different about them? Big props to Orion for going with a quality brand to source the new ESC.

Thats funny how you are geared up in the Losi when the tranny ratio is lower. Interesting. I found a way to get a 72 spur on my car and still have the slipper, so I will let you know how that goes.

Typically the feeling of a lipo is a little more "flat". They don't have the same punch and lack a little on the top end. Lipo's also release their power more evenly. They don't have the same fade that some NIMH cells have. In 10.5 and 13.5 I don't feel any battery fade at all.
