Default Good Power!

I ran the Vortex ESC/ Orion BL10.5/ Orion 3800 30C Lipos and the car was unstopable today. I ran the FDR of my 009 at 5.01 on a 10 second a lap track. The temp was at 164 degrees @ full punch. Thanks for the power Team Orion!

Hey guys, I’m still new at this r/c business. I have the MRC’s Super Brain 989 charger. I just got the Orion 3800 Lipo’s I haven’t charged the batteries yet, I hear that Orion does not recommend any of the MRC’s chargers for their Lipo batteries is this correct? Also I know that I need a balancer and the one that I have is Team Check Point one. If the 989 is not really recommended would someone recommend a decent charger that I don’t have to spend a lot of money. I appreciate any and all comments from everyone and thanks in advance.

There were several instances I believe of people blowing up/overcharging Orion lipos and in all the cases, that person was using an MRC charger. Could have been coincidence or it could be the charger. So to be safe, ORION chose to not recommend using the MRC charger.

All the ORION chargers are great chargers that can be used. There is one that will be available shortly that has a built in balancer. Obviously I use ORION chargers, but I used them before running for ORION as well and I have had no issues with them.

Thanks Steve for the info I would hate to destroy my new Lipo's. I know that you said all Orion chargers are great, but is their one model that you would recommend to a guy that is just starting to race R/C cars.

orion pack to use would be 3800 30c lipo... tons of power... gear should be around 35/72 maybe higher on the 13.5. it just going to depend on the weather. but should be a good starting point

ORI30117 Advantage Charging System w/LiPo Capability is the charger we all used on the team.
but like steve said there is a new lipo charger w/ built in balancer coming out soon.

If you want a good charger that balances lipos and includes a built-in power supply, I would recommend the Hyperion 0606i. Because it preceded their model 0610i chargers, many racers have upgraded; so, you should be able to find a good used 0606i for about $100. If you want the highest level, go to their 0610i Duo II with a separate power supply.
