That's one way to see it,
I wouldn't say it's wrong although I dun totally agree. To me, no regulations mean chaos so even it is a local event it must be equipped with at least some 'local' regs which are transparent to all. I'm sure the comitee have this covered.
Just my 2 pence.

Default IMPORTANT NEWS

All preparations of this Sunday's race is on schedule. We will be laying the track at the Basketball court (3rd Level) from 7pm tonight (Saturday). Just a gentle reminder (hope I am not sound too "lor saw") there is a Prime Minister dialogue at the lobby threatre, so do take note of the extra security around.

We have received about 40 entries - Thanks for all the support and I look forward to an enjoyable race tomorrow.

Thanks & Best Regards & May the best driver win.

NB: Those of you who saw an earlier post here, please ignore it.

Default 27 Jan 2002 Race Report #1

This will come in a few posts as I can find time, I'll add some more.

First, a big thank you for all your support and we look forward to your continued participation and support.

We had a total of 48 participants, out of which 7 are RCMC members. We ran 6 heats and 4 finals, where the B finals ran two rounds and the A finals ran 3 rounds.

The unofficial* results are as follows:
unofficial: This is not an official RCMC communication channel, that is why it has to be unofficial - don't hang me if I type them wrong.

D Main Finals
Position. Name, Nationality, Type, LHS, Laps, Time
1. Marah, Sg, HPI, Speedline, 22, 5:05.78
2. Abdul Hafit, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 22, 5:11.40
3. June, Sg, ??, Speedline, 22, 5:14.32
4. Dean Yusoff, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 22, 5:14.83
5. Raymond, Sg, Corally, Speedline, 21, 5:08.57
6. Anson Tang, Sg, Schumacher, S'wan, 21, 5:13.96
7. Roy Wee, Sg, Atlas, S'wan, 19, 5:05.97
8. Darren Raj, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 16, DNF

Great results fellas, with only 1 DNF. Marah had a runaway win with more than 5 seconds lead from Abdul Hafit. But I am sure the fun is with Abdul Hafit, June & Dean Yusoff in a close tussle till the end with barely a few seconds apart.

Marah & June, your trophies will be waiting at Speedline. Abdul Hafit, yours will be sent to S'wan. Dean Yusoff, push little harder next time, you were just 0.53 seconds away from the 3rd position.

C Main Finals:
1. Melvin, Sg, ??, Speedline, 24, 4:59.21 (D.N.F.)
2. Alex Hoo, Sg, Schumacher, S'wan, 24, 5:11.61
3. Albert Ong, Sg, Atlas, S'wan, 24, 5:11.68
4. Kum Yew, Sg, Losi, S'wan, 23, 5:04.17
5. Lawrence Woo, Sg, Losi, S'wan, 22, 5:04.49
6. Kenneth Tan, Sg, Losi, S'wan, 22, 5:13.81
7. Edgar, Sg, ??, Speedline, 21, 5:01.19
8. Charles Teo, Sg, Yokomo, S'wan, 20, 5:07.62
9. Tony Neo, Sg, Losi, S'wan, 18, 5:13.04
10. Ben, Sg, Tamiya, Speedline, 2, D.N.F.

Hey Melvin, how come you didn't finish your final lap? Using your average lap time, you could have done a 25 @ 5:11.68 a pretty decent time - it would be amongst the top 5 finishers in the B main.

Similar to the D main the excitment is not with the leader, it is among the 2nd & 3rd position with barely 0.07 seconds apart.

Keep it up guys.

Default 27 Jan 2002 Race Report #3

Now comes the B Main Finals

Run 1
1. Jeffery Ong, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 24
2. Kasey, Sg, Yokomo, S'wan, 24
3. Rio, Sg, ??, Speedline, 24
4. Terence Teo, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 24
5. Rosmani, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 23
6. Michael Lim, Sg, HPI, S'wan, 23
7. Goh Kee Choon, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 23
8. Leonard Kee, Sg, Losi, Speedline, 17
9. DRK, Sg, HPI, S'wan, 13, D.N.F.
10. Tang Fa, Sg, Corally, Speedline, 0, D.N.S.

Run 2
1. DRK, Sg, HPI, S'wan, 25
2. Rio, Sg, ??, Speedline, 25
3. Tang Fa, Sg, Corally, Speedline, 24
4. Kasey, Sg, Yokomo, S'wan, 24
5. Rosmani, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 24
6. Jeffery Ong, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 23
7. Terrence Teo, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 23
8. Leonard Kee, Sg, Losi, Speedline, 23
9. Michael Lim, Sg, HPI, S'wan, 23
10. Goh Kee Choon, Sg, Tamiya, S'wan, 22

I have intentionally left out the timings for obvious reasons. The official results were tabulated and announced at the race and you all know where you were, so I want to eliminate any chance of confusion with timings here.

Personally, I find this a very varied result. But first, credit must go to Rio who has shown that he is the most consistent of the lot, being able to finish within the top 3 positions in both runs. Keep it up Rio. Kasey's performance is commendable too, with a consistent 24 laps. Rosmani's performance is also equally commendable.

Default Table shortage.

Kyew: Thanks for reminding me.

Yes, we didn't have enough tables. I can't promise, but we will strive to do better at the 24th February 2002 race, with regards to number of tables. Thanks for accomodating all the inconveniences with regards to the shortage of tables.

Thanks & Best Regards

Hope that I don't anger anyone:

Why aren't audible beeps for race starts, lap counts MACHINE MADE available instead of having the poor announcer make weird sound-offs?

Where are the numbered stickers that are supposed to be stuck on the cars?

Racer's stand was too small. How many R/C car racers are actually as skinny as me and Kelvin Khng?

It might seem very picky perhaps, but I think I am just spoilt by the previous Kawada Series.

But wait... before I kanna flamed/whacked, I do really agree with what Kyew said regarding the nice locale of this 'track'.

Default Hello and how are you doing today?

Thanks for the valuable feedback. Any feedback is good feedback. We may not be able to act on every feedback, but we will surely act on those we can and keep in mind those that we can't.

Prawntoe: The level of IT literacy amongst the whole Marine Parade RCMC is very varied. This posts here is purely voluntary, based on my personal available time. So, sometimes you may notice that there is no activity in this thread and then out of the blue, there are a few. Well that's my work schedule - as best as I can manage it. It is possible to put it up, just tell the Race Director to come in here and post it. Due to my family committments I could not spare the time to be actively involved in every event, actually I wish I could. I still long for the day where I can return to the Campsite Track and run 1/8 cars. Thanks in advance for accomodating.

Kenneth Tan: Don't worry, I've seen and read worst. You are already very kind with your feedback. So, to address your feedback to the best of my ability:

1. Audible beeps - the 12V amplifier of ours has only one workable audio input port. So obviously the announcing microphone has priority over the beep. We shall see if there is anyone who can sponsor us a better PA (public address) amplifier. The present one is sponsored by Mr. Sunny Hee.

1a. Weird sound-offs: Well we did give you a choice, the car lock horn or the poor announcer's voice. The choice is history.

2. We had the stickers around, are you sure you want to stick that onto your car and disfigure the stunning artwork you had on the cars? - But seriously point taken, we will probably think through to see if there is any real use of the number sticker on the cars, if there is sufficient real use, we can bring it back. Any views from the rest about having a number sticker on your car bodies? Please share your views.

2a. The other point is we want to move the event as fast as we can, so that we can all go back for a nice evening with your family, gf, army camp, whatever. So if you notice, we didn't even bother to tag your radios, we left the baskets for you to surrender your radios and so far I think we have put our trust in your good faith and everyone have followed this practice. So, it is also the same with car numbers. I guess.

3. Racer stand: It was between a shaking 4 section or a sturdy 3 section driver stand. We had 2 missing 2 inch square sticks, so we can't put up a sturdy 4 section driver stand. The suppliers refuse to deliver only 2 pieces. We will look into this for the next run.

Thanks & Best Regards

Hi,
I don't know what other thinks about the number stickers,
But for me I don't really see the need for it.
I think,
Firstly it is for identification of the cars by the officals but as most drivers and officals knows each others well, they can identify the car.
Secondly, for the starting grid, but I believe the mechanics should know the cars position.

And for the horn, I will try to do something about it.

I also understand some people may complain I am rushing things.
But I hope you guys understand......the reason I rush you guys is just to make you guys do things faster.(In the end I will still wait for you). If every heat 1 person delay 1-2min, the whole race will end about a 'hour' later. And the next day people will post a comment on this thread on why the race end so late or why so many delays.

Talking

I have also some comments.
But for the racers.
If you want the race to run smoothly, try to coperate in the following ways.

1. Register early(don't come and register on the race day)
I can save 10-20mins on the data entry.

2. Pay entry fee quickly and if i happen to run out of change, let me own you first. Cos I need to calculate the money (save another 20-30mins.)

3. Stop practice when ask to do so for us to repair track(save 10-20mins)

4. In-pound transmitter faster to start the race as soon as possible. If need it to repair car inform the officals(save 10mins)

5. Submit correct freq. and write you particulars clearly when you register to avoid changing on the race day.(save 10mins)

6. Don't keep pressing for your results. we will put it out A.S.A.P.

7. When requested to come to race control. Pls don't take your own sweet time.

8. If your car need time for repair or prepare, pls inform the officals. Don't come and shout at us for not giving you time.
How we know your car not ready???!!!!!!!!!

9. Please respect offical's decisions.

10. Find out when is your run and prepare in time.

So if all racer can coperate. I can save another 1 hour and use this time to spread out the run thus a smoother race.
And lastly, thank you for your support and help.
(Jackson, Francis......and all those who help out the race in setting up and keeping.)

Firstly to TangFa,

Can you identify your own car without the Sticker? Was you car difficult to recognise by the race officials without the sticker?

As Nipple has said the cars are easily identified and PH has brought up a good point about having the stickers ruin some nice art work.

I don't think you are wrong in asking for the stickers but it would serve well to provide your reaons for it? Your requests or grievances does seem a little unfounded but rather just lashing out.

This site has already shown a very distasteful side of singapore Please consider yourself and the rest of singapore b4 throwing down the gauntlet and all your misgivings here.

Nipple,

Your comments are correct and they do reflect the happenings of the day. Comments go back and forth and they are seldom worked on.

It is a race and sometimes people are so caught up in getting their cars ready that they did not inform you that they are not ready. You have raced before i am sure you know the feeling.

To eliminate problems with the transponder please have your assistant hand them out to eliminate some people taking the wrong ones.

Like it or not as a race director you are accountable for the handing out of transponder you cannot shrug of responsibility about not being the one that handed out the transponder therefore not your problem.

Lastly my appologies to those who did not have a seat as i was one of those who had an extra space. To nipple for the late registration.

Race have and have fun a little bit of inconvienience never killed anyone. You expect a little less and you will be happier at the end of the day.

Cheers
