Just got my 17.5 1/12. What would be the recommended starting roll out and timing? 90'x30' med bite carpet. Will also be running a 90'x60' high bite. Thanks, Chris

On a 90 x 40 high bite track we run approx. 100mm rollout at 25* to start.

Check temps after 4 minutes and adjust.

If temps are low (100* or so after 4 minutes):
bump to 30* timing and drop a few pinions.

If temps are high (above 118* after 4 minutes):
drop timing a few degrees and leave gearing.

Watch for drop off over the 8 minute run.
Should see .3 maybe .4 from top five laps to last few laps.
Motor temps should be 120ish after 8 minutes.

The motor listing is here :

http://teamscreamracing.com/catagory.php?type=Brushless

In USGT they are GREAT!

The resistance is as low as I've ever seen a 21.5 (33/34r).

They are not ROAR approved yet, they will be submitted this week.

If you want to, place the order, and I'll get it together!

We ran a 1480 to 1500 12.46mm rotor in it with 20* timing at a 52/53-96 with a 1.9 drive and it was great! We used that combo for 15 minute mains. Running 6 or 8 minutes all we did was add 1 or 2 more degrees of timing.

thanks for the info... any guess on how long it'll take ROAR to approve the motor?? I'm planning on doing the USVTA Southern nationals in mid-September and hate to get the motor only to find out its still not approved

what does the 1480-1500 mean for the rotor? I've never dug much into the bl motor deal - just grabbed what I liked and went from there

another (dumb, maybe) question.. I thought all rotors had to be a certain, pre-defined, size... how is it i'm seeing different (what I guess are) sizes for the rotor?

The 17.5's took 4 to 6 weeks for approval.

Most of the ones sold will be down at the Southern Nats

The 1480-1500 is the rotor strength on my meter.

The size of the rotor is a 12.5mm dia. (12.46mm actual dia.)
The motors will be submitted with the 12.5mm and optional 12.3mm tuning rotor (same as the 17.5).
Those are the 2 legal diameters.

The motor should be roar approved by then. It shouldn't take two months that Is if everything goes as planned. The 1480-1500 is the rotor strength. Each motor has a certain tolerance to be with in. The max size for a 12.5 rotor is 12.51mm. There are also 12.3 rotors. So there are different size rotors as well as strengths of those rotors. A larger rotor, generally with have a larger number giving the motor.more torque (getting to the top speed quicker) however the max speed won't be as much as it would be with a weaker rotor. However it depends on your track and the application for instance. If you run outdoors a general statement would be is thar you want a weaker rotor. However if you run on any type of grippy carpet a higher gauss number and larger rotor is better. I run a. 1570 rotor in my touring car and I don't have a lack of top end. On my small track (60×36). Wayne said he runs the same or stronger on his track (norcar) which is larger I think like 80 or 100 feet long and he still has plenty of speed. Won't be disappointed by getting one of the bad boys.

been a long time since I actually 'went shopping' for a motor...the last couple have been used or only one allowed in the class (USVTA)
