I've gone down as low as 2mm spacers. We have some tight s turns and 180's and going that low has worked great.

I think the Smokem is the better option.
You can definitely flip the belt on the Exotek. You still get the hardware to do the older style "ear" with the newer chassis. It may look weird, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. You will break the chassis before you break the ear.

As for performance, I have yet to run it on asphalt, only carpet, but so far I find it to have more steering than the X. Next time im going to try it with the lipo top plate (instead of X top plate), I think this will be an even better combo

I would start with the droop settings,
is easier and worked for us.

0.5 deg more camber ( 2,0 F. and 2,5 R. deg ) works well on carpet.

Yes, 4mm in the rear. You don't want to change too many things at once. Give that a try before making anymore changes.

I've been running the Exotek 416XL for a while and I really like it. The car handles well and I love the carbon battery strap, since I don't like tape

this may sound like a stupid question but why does the 416 seem to shred rear belts so much in modified touring?

Well checking on the Tamiya website it says that the lipo upgrade kit for the TRF416X is discontinued, does someone of you guys heard something about it?
It is a shame if Tamiya have done that, I am really disapointed with that.
Will try to grab a Smokem or Exotek kit.
Thanks for the help.

Default Layshaft Bearing

Hi All

Does anyone know the size of the layshaft bearings for the 416x, in mm if possible please? I am in urgent need of some new ones and knowone stocks Tamiya around here, but I can get bearings if I know the size, the manual does not seem to give the actual size just a part number.

Thanks

Mark

I have to believe Tamiya released the 416x Lipo chassis and then discontinued it to boost the sale of the new 417. (everyone would just get the upgrade chassis.)

I have the Tamiya lipo chassis and it balances perfectly on balance dots without any additional weights. I have added two 7gram weights to the sides of the steering rack to make our legal weight (1380). mine weights in at 1384 race ready.
