One more silly question,
Is there anything such as a rear ball diff for the Evo?
I hate it when i need to change my rear diff oil,sucks

Don't know of a ball diff.
It's pretty cheap to buy the parts and build a spare diff, though.

I've never used any of them...can someone tell me what kind of handling changes will occur if I switch to a solid rear axle and a front one way?

I've read that the transfer of energy to the ground is much better (less energy lost due to the internal gears of a diff), but there is the problem of the inside rear wheel spinning too fast during a turn....

What can I expect? What kind of a driving style is required and is it harder to drive? What kinds of suspension set up changes are required..?

I see all the 1/8scale cars are set up like this, and I like the thought of not worrying about diff oil rebuilding diffs all the time.

So if anyone can enlighten me before I make the purchases for this type of set up.

1/. very good straight line stablility
2/. very good on throttle steering. car understeer on slow speed corner if you let go throttle.
3/. you can use hard brake with the rear solid axle even with a front oneway.
4/. very efficient on power transmission.
5/. lighter drive tran.
6/. you need a body with great rear down force to compliment the setup. i.e. Lola
7/. best to run this setup on a medium to high traction track
8/. rear tire wear pretty fast on rear solid axle comparing to rear diff.
9/. shorter run time as you have more on-throttle time.
10/. yes, you need to change your driving style to make you fast.
11/. it is kinda give and take if you to decide what to use on a race day. diff or solid rear axle but racers here stick with rear diff to save pit time and obtain better tire wear.
12/. no doubt it is very fun to drive with this setup.

my pinions got sharpened and I replaced with new ones. Do I also need to change my spur gears? They still look ok but just to ask if replacement of these parts should always be at the same time for proper gear mesh.

i never bother to replace the plastic spur unless it is pretty worn or looks old.

with cold weather and dusty tracks, had to take it off. No rear traction even with 32shore tires but got real good at drifting
