I have yet to build my M04M kit, so I may be wrong here... but since the weight is towards the rear in this chassis, wouldn't you want stiffer springs (blue) out back, with softer springs (red) up front? The opposite of the M03 chassis.

Nope....you need SOFT springs and tyres in the rear of a RWD on-road chassis or you don't get any grip. RWD cars tend to oversteer like mad so you need to tame that with hard front and soft rear.
I know it sounds weird because that isnt how it works with a 2WD buggy, but they compensate by having HUGE tyres in the rear and skinny ones in front.

M04M setup
Hi,
I love the M04M... but I think it will have a hard time against the M03s on asphalt. On carpet they seem to be faster. Hope setup below helps. Dan Garber helped me out a lot on setup. ID = difuser.

M04M's are great fun when you have them sorted, they can be a handful on more technical layouts but one thing you can put money on is they'll out accelerate any M03 off the start line and out of slow corners.
I have a pretty good setup on it at the moment which makes it very competitive with the M03 brigade, although there are some crazy fast guys with M03's that do have the upper hand.

Shock : TA03 Low Friction Aluminum with 2 hole pistons and 8mm spacer inside the shock
Spring : Tamiya Blue Tuned Touring Car spring(flourescent)
Oil : 50 weight

Insert : Shortened Tamiya Soft Touring Car Insert(Red)

I have tried this with standard touring car springs but it's a little bouncy and makes the car skip under hard cornering.
As for running 10 minute heats, unfortunately the rear tires do overheat and this causes inconsistency in the handling.

Well I do agree that the rear tires do over heat. but the front tires get almost as hot. The M04's handling seems to get better the longer I run, its the first 5 minutes that its seems to be the most inconsistent.
As for making a setup sheet would you mind making one for the M04 series as well?
Also I like the M04 because it truely does out accelerate the M03 out of the hole and shoot out of the slow corners much faster as long as you finished making all your steering inputs. If I try to a accelerate too soon it will spinout a thats what I'm trying to work on right now.

Is there an M04 thread on rctech? There's an M04L thread on radiocontrolzone.com, but it's not very active. Plus they seem to be having software upgrade issues. Again.

I'm not driving one yet, but I've got a Eunos kit waiting patiently on a shelf. I'm going to buy all the necessary hop-ups before I start building.
