Default Solution to Alu Anti-Rollbar Arms

After installing the alu anti-rollbar arms onto my new 710 and finding that the arms were binding just the same as on my original 710, I decided to take more drastic action this time.

With my original 710, I followed Crashed's advice and lossened the hinge pin grub screws on the front lower arms - worked perfectly, but then the hinge pins move around during a run, so the solution wasn't optimal.

This time, I took the bull by-the-horns and drill out the hole for the hinge pins in the alu anti-rollbar arms. The hole is already 3mm, but I think the tolerance is a little bit tight. After letting a 3mm drill bit slide through the hole a couple of time, I remounted the arms and found that there is no binding anymore There is also no additional play on the arms, so it seems to be a safe and effective fix.

Cheers, Mark.

New build for 710

Guys, we know some you surf here and don't register or ever post anything. Know that one of the "Tech Elite" here just wrote a comprehensive article on building his second 710.

If you plan to build another one or just thinking of building one then read this!

On a high speed track, you may want to try and harden the front ball diff. Front harder than rear. Best would be to go with a oneway front if the track needs very little braking and needs high speed corners. With a oneway front, the rear diff likes to be hardened a little.

SHOCK: Front & Rear Alu with Red Spring / 35 front 3 holes --- 45 rear 3 holes
I would not know if this shock combo would work. Try it out first and if it does not, then use 35wt oil, red springs all around with 3 holes front and rear. That should be a neutral setting.

ANTI ROLL BAR: Front Flat Rear 2mm in (2.5mm)
Try and use the new harder 2.5 mm sway bar. It should work good with oneway or front ball diff. You may want to adjust the front sway bar to harder to take out steering and balance the car.

ROLL CENTER: Front 1mm under - Rear UTI / LT
If the rear swings out a little, try UTI / LB. If you want the car to react faster left to right, use NO shims under the front upper arms.

TOE: Front -1 Rear +2
To get more on power steering, you may want to try less rear toe in like +1.5 or even +1.

All in all, I think you should first run the car on that new track first to find what is lacking or too much and then make adjustments to it to compensate.

And yes, don't forget to try the new servo saver if you have it. Good for high speed sweepers.

If we do go, we will go as drivers and not full time bodyshell painters, cutters, cleaners and mechanics.

Well, one thing about that old "Tech Elite" you're referring to did not get the latest 710 kit. Our friend the ever hip Uncle Crash (another Tech Elite) did up one last week with a new batch of the 710 and check out what he found in the kit;

1. Rear shocktower with old design (gives you opportunity to throw it back to Serpent )
2. New Diff clamp for rear diff
3. Additional 1.2mm shock pistons on top of stock 1.0 mm ones
4. Additional 0.5mm spacers for front roll center
5. Old lower rear arms...
6. Reinforced upper and lower bumper brace
7. Black anodised flywheel

Ummm...correction to item no. 4. It's actually Imm spacers plus the original 2mm ones.
