Team EPIC REVTECH "4XS" Quad Magnet 12 Pole 540 Brushless Motor
#46
Revtech/Epic needs to work on their quality control. Ordered a 4800 motor to try out. When it came in at the hobby shop, I found that the motor has a 1/8" shaft, instead of the 5mm shaft that they are supposed to have. The part number on the box was correct for the 5mm shaft version. Epic obviously built the motor with the wrong rotor. Good thing I already had a bore reducer to use my mod1 pinions on my 4wd SCT. So, buyer beware!

because Trinity does make 2 kinds of motors... 1 with the 5mm shaft the other with a 1/8th shaft
5 mm is for 4wd applications
1/8th is for 2wd applications
I too hate these kinds of posts.. Please check your part number.

I've ran the Tekin Pro4 4000, 4600, and Revtech 4800 the in my DESC410r. I would say that the Revtech motor is noticably more powerful and flat out faster. The power curve seems a bit more harsh than the 4600. I thought the pro4 4600 was lazy. The Revtech's magnets even appear to be stronger when spinning the motor by hand. Revtech really knocked it out of the part with this one, I'm glad I switched.
Well put. love the motor.

It happens, to say buyer beware is crazy, people make mistakes, no such thing as perfection bro

Finally got to run the 4800 in my newly converted 1/8th to SC 4wd. This thing has power on both low and top ends and flat out hauls a$$. I'm running it with no timing on the motor or my Novak Havoc Pro X-drive esc. Even with my heavier 1/8th platform on 2S I can hang with anything on the track (except maybe 1/8th scale on 4s). Only limitation to faster lap times is my skill.
After a battery (6-8 minute run) motor temped at around 150* and esc at 117*. So temps are great. However, this motor draws major juice so better have good connectors and soldering as I noticed my wires got pretty warm as well.
On a note about temps. Originally mated this up to an MMP esc but it could not handle this motor. It would temp well past 125* after only 2 laps. I didn't want to push it so I swapped esc's.
This thing is a beast! Awesome motor.
