The power curve seems a bit more harsh than the 4600. I thought the pro4 4600 was lazy. The Revtech's magnets even appear to be stronger when spinning the motor by hand. Revtech really knocked it out of the part with this one, I'm glad I switched.
what is the run time for the 4800KV? will it last 10 mins or just 8?or you using the shorty mod for your DESC410R?

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...m-Shaft-4800kV

but when i checked at the back of the box, it says, sensorless design, does it means its not sensored? im confused. amain says its sensored thats why i bought one.

ummm. pull it out and see if there's a sensor port?

as far as i know, it should be sensored. i don't think they make a sensorless 4pole.

Its hard to say. I use to be able to get over 10 but now I'm dumping in a 7 min main and temping over 200. I'm not impressed with the lack of a rebuild kit.

The motor is sensored. There are no parts available, the only thing I found is you can send the motor back to trinity and they will repair it. I would go with a 13t. It seemed pretty safe and gave me nice runtimes with 5100 mah saddles in my DESC410r.

Im have a 3800kv in my scte with a rx8. no boost, current limiter at 60amps. Throttle profile at linear. I have a 16t pinion for it. I haven't ran it yet. Will a 16t make my temp too hot?

I will be racing at a BIG open track.

Thanks

I was planning on running the 3800KV motor on my 4wd buggy in open MOD class... Here's my question...

1. I'll be pairing this up on my LRP SXX speedo will this be fine and not burnt up my speedo?

2. What is your recommended gearing?

My problem is with regular 540 brushless motor it seems like the motor and the Speedo runs hot due to buggy was so heavy "DEX410"... I was thinking running a 4pole would make my speedo and motor run more efficient and cooler...

150 dollars? isnt this a bit pricey compared to castle, novak, viper, tekin, tenshock, orion, etc... novaks are only 90 dollars and proven sensored designs

I bought the 4800kv revtech with an Orion Vortex R8 pro and since day one, I've been fighting heat issues. I have everything turned down on the esc and the timing even turned down a smidge on the motor. After 8 minutes, the temp is around 200 to 210. I have the motor in a SCTE and I understand the truck itself is a brick shit house,,,,, but I've never had heat issues like this with any other 4-pole motors in the past. I got a heatsink the a fan for the motor but that didn't seem to do much. I'm running a 13-40 for gearing, and I don't know what else to do and am in need of some advise! Thanks

I'm considering getting one of the rev1311 4800kv models.
My question, is this going to outperform the 4.5t 550 ballistic
I'm currently running?

On my local track I can run a 13t pinion
62 spur while pushing 30° of timing with my Novak kinetic.
After an 8 min main motor comes off @160-167° which is bout
Perfect in my opinion.

The truck I'm considering this motor for is a sc10 4x4. Weight
Shouldn't be an issue. It puzzles me as to how many folks
Are having heat issues with these motors. Definetly makes me
Re consider my purchase and go another route.

I'm very curious to hear peoples feed back on this matter.

Can't you get the Hobbywing 3656SD with SCCT Pro Esc combo for that money ?

Edit: Yes you can.

Check to see if your shaft is tight, meaning the fore and aft movement, if you take the front of the motor off, theres a rubber O ring on the shaft, if its moved, it causes the temps to get out of control. I ran my 4800kv with a 13t pinion in my Losi, and 75% Current limiter on a Tekin RX8. Not sure about the Orion, most of us who ran this motor ran it on an RX8 and used good, high C rated batteries. I personally use HVR 6k 60c.
If the O ring has slid down, use a couple of small shims that equal the thickness of the O ring.

This motor will run circles around the 4.5 Ballistic, especially in an SC104x4.
