Nice Pictures! I need to steal that one of the X-long for the website to show people how they have to setup the shock end. We put the necessary part numbers on the Specialized website but no one seems to order them. Hopefully that means they have everything.

To answer your question, there isn't really a "hot" mod. There are two categories: 1. stuff that you need, and 2. stuff that you want, and are great to have, but don't absolutely need to be fast.
For carpet, #1 would be (providing you have a carpet spec kit): Lowered front shock tower, black spring set, 6 degree caster blocks for tuning, and low suspension blocks all around.
#2 would be things like the X-tra long rear extensions, motor fan/guard, etc.
#1 for anyone with any kit racing on any surface would be the SRC hard foam bumper/kydex combo, part # SRC1005.
