From the pictures though, it looks like all the TRF guys are running the TA05 pulleys, along with the new steering.
Also, they look to have pretty wide cars, with the suspension blocks. I noticed Marc was running a front bridge, so either an A or D on the front-rear block (unless it's a new part). Also looks like the cars are setup quite stiff. White springs and a thick roll bar on the front, with yellow and a thinish roll bar on the rear. This is with spools too. I wonder how much the new steering system has affected the setting up of the car, especially on the front. More inital steering could mean they need to stiffen the front slightly
Ed
I wonder if given the cool track temps and very low grip tires they were having probems with the cars being too lose...perhaps that's why the setup was so much towards a push. Also the new steering system appears to provide more ackerman given the angles of the links, which will provide more steering...perhaps another reason for their spring and swaybars setup.

It would be nice if all those new cool parts come as an "UP-GRADE PARTS SET". I wouldn't know how the difference is in the track between what is on the current MSX now, but it looks cool, haha

The diff idea is nice!

Problem I see with an upgrade part set is that there are just too many parts needed to make it work... for starters a new chassis and top deck, a complete new set of steering links (bell cranks and cross joint), new belts and pulleys and layshafts, and then the new rear bulkheads...
thats most of a car

True about Marc R though, seems he wasn't using the rest of the new bulkheads... so can't be that much of an improvement

Ed,

Do you think the steering rack requires a new mounting location in the chassis and top deck...looks to me as if the exisitng steering rack holes may work...I can't see Tamiya releasing a new steering rack which requires a new chassis and top plate...especially since they just released the 4mm chassis for carpet racing. Just a thought?

Carl,

The new steering does require a new chassis and top deck, if you have a close look at it you'll realise it's located much further back compared to the old steering.

Ed : to me it don't look like new bulkheads, more like a new metal plate with heatsink like that of the cyclone hara version. It would be quite difficult to make the bulkheads lower since there have to be some material go over the battery and at that point it looks like the same as the MSX.

if that's the case with the new steering rack, that would really suck... just a strong reminder why I prefer 1/8th fuel on-road

I'll tell you what looks different in those bulkheads : the layshaft seems a tad higher which would allow the use of bigger spurs. That would go along with using bigger centre pulleys, to allow for decent fdr for mod racing.

My question is i know i have to flip the A block over like the XB block but it seems the suspension arms are angled like this \ (even with a .5mm shim under the rear block and the standard shim included in the kit). Is this normal?

Cheers, Charles.
I have had understeer problems and now run the following on my MSX

Front
Upper arm spacer 2mm
Upper arm pos 2
Castor blocks 4'
camber 1.5
droop 5mm
diff
3 hole piston 3o weight Yellow spring
Shock length 62.5
Shock Mount 2 upper 3 lower
Frount mount spacer F 0.75mm R 0mm
mounts Fr 1A R 1XA
Ride Height 6mm

Rear
Upper arm spacer 1mm
Upper arm pos 2
Rear hub 1'
Camber 1.5
Ride H 6.5
Drop 3mm
Upper arm spacer 0
Piston 3 hole
Oil 40 w
Spring Yellow
Shock length 62.5
Shock mount 3 & 3
Rear Nount spacer F 1mm R 0mm
Mounts F1A R 1XB
Fixed centre pulley

Arm spacers R2mm both front and rear.

This is giving me plenty of steering all the way through the corner - rates on KO 50%

Want to try frt & rear roll bar as it can dig in a little on corner entry when the tyres really warm up

Are you sure it's steering you have, not lack of rear end grip ? As you have written, you have 0.5° of toe out on the rear...
