We are just getting ready to roll on USGT and motors are going to be a point of contention. One possible way to make it so that outlaw/other motors outside of ROAR approved motors could be restricted is to set a combo and combo only(IE Tekin ESC with Tekin motor, Speed Passion with Speed Passion) rule. Limit the combos to a max of 5 manufacturers.

Most of the not approved motor manufacturers do not make speedos as well. Will it piss some people off yes. Will it make for more realistic spec racing class and not the motor of the week racing like 17.5 blinky... yes.

a lot of good points...and Im sure all are being looked at. But a step has been made to help get us in the right direction...

another thing that Ive heard is to allow 21.5's that have 17.5's that are ROAR approved such as the Novak Vulcan 17.5 would allow the Vulcan 21.5....just a thought

I contacted Novak within the last week or so about offering a 21.5 combo for VTA. I told them that I have their Edge/25.5 combo for VTA and want to continue to buy Novak products. I got a response from Brent Newman that said, "We do not offer the 21.5t motors in combos. Only the 25.5 BOSS combos for VTA are available. We do offer the new Vulcan motors in 21.5t. I am not sure at this time if we will offer a combo with this in the future".
Novak supports VTA and, in turn, my racing interests. I'd like to support them, but not to the tune of buying the Edge 2s for about $100 and the 21.5t motor for $90. It would be nice to be able to realize the savings of a combo. With the newly instituted "motors must have ROAR approval", that removes the $35 Turnigy Trackstar as an option. Not complaining, just stating a fact. Guess that I'm going to have to look at the Hobbywing 21.5 combo.

If you have a good setup for 17.5 sedan it seems to work well for USGT. I run a T3 '12 in both USGT and Sedan and run the same setup on both.

I will say I was looking at the hobby wing 21.5 motor ( I got one in a combo a yr ago with a xtremestock) for like 110+-
Well there motors r now roar legal and have doubled in price ... Being it don't have adjustable timing would make it a perfect usgt motor (the only usgt legal motor) but only if it was $40 .... I would be willing to do that for sure . would actually think it would be a good move for the class seeing how Novak runs the motors in vta why not hobby wing in gt?

Bottom line is Rob is right no matter what you decide somebody will bitch and be pisssed , so I guess you go the easiest route and use roar only motors . I just liked the idea of a class that u could use a cheapie motors and be competitive. Think about it before the trakstar 21.5 cheap motor meant you went slow and didn't have a chance.

Thanks. I'll be trying a few things as we are running on concrete.

I have the base setup Xray publishes for the T2 008 on my GT car with a front swaybar installed. It feels good to me. It can be driven aggressively and lots of steering.

Darth and Dave, are you going to The Grove tomorrow? My VTA is ready, but not my USGT.

Remind me again why people continuously argue about the rules? Recent race results with cars running various chassis, ESC's, Roar Motors, treaded tires. After 8 minutes, you have 5 of the 6 cars separated by 6 seconds.

I showed up to this race with a new car and was 0.5sec off the pace. Did I change motors, motor timing, ESC's, gearing, NO. The time was gained just by working on the car setup.

Thanks to those that endure the silliness that people drum up and create a set of class rules that allows people to RACE.
