Didn't someone introduce some "low profile" shorty 2 cell packs around a year ago. I am thinking Reedy, but I am probably wrong. But the Dude is right about the post for the F1 car providing the correct height for the top plate over the regular 2 cell batteries. And it will fit on the Xti inline chassis. There are people running 25.5 motors with 2 cell batteries in the Gen10 RT that use this post.

There are lower profile 2S packs, but still much bigger than a proper 1/12 pan car pack. GT10 and F1 is a considerably larger car, and I see people using one of the smaller 4000+mah 2S packs in that, but in a 1/12 chassis it is not a good idea.

This isn't a complex or controversial issue, you can only fit a certain sized pack in a 1/12 car and if you think you're going to save $40 by using a pack meant for an F1 or touring car then you will probably be quite disappointed in your outcomes, even if you used the tall F1 car center post height.

Most of the 4,000mah 2s shorty ULCG packs are the same dimensions as a standard 1s: 93mm x 47mm x18.5mm. This make sense as they simply rewire the two internal cells from 1s2p to 2s1p for half the capacity and twice the voltage. Reedy has a 3,600. Gens Ace has a 4,000. Fantom has a 4,000. Guessing there are others. Once you get into the 4,500mah 2s packs, the height increases to around 25mm and in many cases they are 3-4mm longer as well.

Those batteries have been around over 5 years. I was using them at the Indoor Champs in F1 around 16. The LCG shorty reduces traction rolling by a huge amount. Dumper has given me grief about it all these years. He says that they don't have the punch and he used to be right. My latest set have I.R.s in the low 1's per cell. I can say that they pass the juice out. I am coming off at 6 minutes with 7.7v resting. But a practice run Saturday on the HWC layout had a 8.3 fast lap and a 8.5 final lap after 6-1/2 minutes. Data from the esc showed a low voltage of 7.3. That is using it up but delivering the goods.
The new cells are the latest from CRC .

Dumper was correct. I have not seen anything recently, but beyond bleh IR's, the LCG batteries did not have a real good voltage curve either. At 30A, they took a nose dive in comparison to a full height shorty.

[QUOTE=DesertRat;15948686]Doing this to both sides didn't even save 2g but hell, 2g is 2g. I am still of the opinion that the slider pod is more chunky than it needs to be.

[/QUOTE

Reminds me of my Delta car's rear pod. Too many years ago to think about.

I will report after this weekend. I did my usual thing of buying an RC item and not using it until it's basically obsolete.

Edit: it is worth noting that with the lowrider motor and spool, the pod is very close to balanced. Within 2g.

If you are on carpet you will need to cut those tires down a bit!

Nice what did you do to lengthen the center shock? I have the red part but it is a 4/40 thread? Anyone make a longer shaft?

CRC encore shock shaft adapter. I had to run the shock way forward because the ESC footprint is too big.
