I installed the new side stiffner set #903205 but found that with the aluminum pulley it did not spin freely. I had to go back to the original plastic pulley.

Rob, I actually filled down the pulley so it could sping freely. That worked for me.

My tweak station shows around 205mm (rear) instead 260-262?

You have to glue the bearing with 2 small drops.

What kind of glue did you use? Is it okay to use C.A Instant Glue (the kind you use with tires)?

Besides the fit issue with the aluminium pulley, I found the side an excellent addition to the 960. Acceleration does seem stronger with the plate.

But my next experiment will be, to put another grubscrew in and place the weights between the pins, as they are shorter and they can be placed in between......
Tried it this weekend. In-between pins, with grub screw, spring is 10mm 1.8, and gap is 0.55. Tension on spring is 1.5. The car is very quick with this setup but still looking for a bit more punch.

Default RC Pro Race #4-Las Vegas

I just want to say "GREAT JOB" to Mr. Steven Jackson out of Las Vegas, Nv for a great showing with his Maxy Pro Race Fueled/Serpent 960 this past weekend here in Vegas for the final leg in the RC Pro Series-Western Division.....

If it wasn't for receiver pack failure, he would have been on the podium....

It's been a long time since I've seen him pilot a car the way he did this past weekend and it's only getting better

"Now lean out that Motor"

I wonder, if lock-tight works with metal screws on metal holes, would it work for a metal bearing on a metal surface?

Another thing you might try is sanding away a bit of the coating on the bearing holder and glue at that position. The bearing holder looks like it is coated with something. Perhaps a heat resistant material? The coating may be smoother than bare metal and resistant to the effect of an adhesive (i.e. a non-stick coating).

Default New ackerman set

Anyone using the new ackerman set? I notice there is a lot of play between the set and the upper radio plate. I've stuck in a washer to help remove some of it but I was wondering if there was a method that didn't require extra parts.

rotating bearings are never good with alu.. it will be worned out with time.

Hi all
Sorry for my noobness but i have a small question regarding 960 assembly...
After completion of step 1.5, i have an horizontal "endplay" of the axle, of about 0.3 mm..Is this normal, or the axle should be rock solid with no horizontal movement watsoever?
Thanks

i am useing it and the little play is good so you don"t have any binding when the streering is under load .and it let the spring have some play to do its job.
