If you are doing a LOT of dynamic timing advance with a 17.5, I would start with 78/28. If you are doing NO esc timing at all, I would start with 78/32. Of course which motor, which esc, and what track you are on can change what you run.

I've seen this at my track a few years ago, but I don't know how to do it.

32/78 seems like a lot of teeth. Will that even fit? Low 30's on pinion is the right ballpark for unboosted stock though.

I am using the strc one made for the SC10:

It is actually slightly narrower than the plastic one that AE sells for the b4.1.
I shimmed it and it works fine.
I would have never spent money to try it but one of my AE plastic ones broke on race day and I had the STRCs lying around. So I thought, "what the heck! Lets give it a go!" In any case, I finished 2nd in the A-main with them so I guess they're fine!

The biggest differences between the two kits are the plastics used and the shocks. The B4.1 uses more flexible plastic than the carbon composite in the B4 FT kit. Also, the B4.1 has new V2 shocks which do away with the clip and spacer setup for the O rings in favor of a bottom loading cap for keeping the seals in place.

Yes it will fit, and no, that isn't geared all that high for an unboosted 17.5. Some go as high as 34/75, which is too tall IMO. 32/78 is right down the middle.
