Hey I just got this truck. What's the best motor for a big outdoor track?

Mine has loosened up nicely since, but you don't want all that heat/friction.
I would bet on this. It would be worth slipping your belt off and feeling both transmissions for any binding.

^^ Still early on my build, I think I've got the same problem with the tranny. When I turn/spin the shaft by itself after about 4-5 turns it gets really tight then it'll lossen up, after a few turns its tight again...repeat. But when the tranny box is open all the gears turn freely?

Totally normal. Run a couple of packs through it and bed in the gearboxes and recheck, but my front one did exactly this and cleared up after I ran it.

Super! I was planning to spend 1-2hrs just to disassemble the whole thing and start over again. This is my 1st kit ever, I wish the instructions were a bit more clear on some of the installs.

Thanks!

I tried to use the clicker to help gain more rotation on a tight indoor track. Turned out after a couple of runs a could get my laps up to were I was with it locked. It was better in the sections I was trying to get the truck to turn better on but suffered in other sections. I was having a hard time in the brake zone with it. Locked it back down and changed the rear toe block to a 3-3 and the truck was faster and had the on power rotation I wanted. For me locked it better.

First thing i would check is the rear cvas's. sounds like you may have lost a pin in the rear.

Found them:

LF 18.9.........RF 20.5
.

.
.
LR 23.1.........RR 25.8

These are the weights from the original configuration with 550. This includes the Rx box and the ESC tray. (They weigh 1.2oz together with bolts.) you can see that even with a 550 this truck is very right side heavy.

Or one of the tires is put on too tight, causing a bit of binding on the side that the truck 180s towards.

Was this with or without a battery? It seems odd to me that with the motor on the left side of center, that it would be right side heavy...and I would expect that to be even more exaggerated by a 540, since the weight of the motor would be concentrated more on the right....

Personal opinion: Tekin SC4x 5.5T 550

At least, until we can get our hands on their sensored 4 pole...

But I'm a sucker for smoothness over speed....
