I used an RS Pro with a novak 4.5 HV 550 motor last year in my Hyper10SC, on smaller indoor tracks. The RS Pro got very hot (6-7 leds), but never failed. If you put a fan next to it blowing on the solder posts, and got the gearing right, you'd probably be OK.

Okay. So the slipper. Still having issues.

I tried Chuck's idea, and it did nothing. Literally. I totally understand the concept too Chuck. I get the engineering unlike the others. I also hear people have different springs. So I'm confused.

I put two washers on the plate, to the point that the spring 'barely' could seat on the lip, and tightened it down all the way and I still slip BAD. To the point short grass the car will spin at a standstill.

I have new pads, new plates, the only thing is that fucking spring. I've tried my 540 1410 and my 550 1415. All slip and "scream" like a dying animal until the pad warms up and I start to stick a little and can make it around the track, but I cannot from a dead stop, clear more than a foot? I have to make a run at the smallest jump to clear it because I have no punch due to the slip.

Anyone?

Is it possible that the slipper plates are squeezing the pads enough to allow the plates to touch the spur gear? The spur has a raised portion (about .5mm)around the center hole, the pads when new are about 1mm thick. I have never checked old or worn-in pads but it might be worth a look to see how much they compress. It sounds like you can get the pressure to the plates but something is stopping that pressure from getting to the pads.

just my two cents,

I think he keeps making wheelies becouse the sc10 4x4 is the only SC truck who has the motor in a 90 degree angle to the driving direction.
so the rotating mass will help wheelies. what do you think ?

Thats some crazy wheely action, it ust be a combiation of too much traction and wind?? IDK. Ive never had mine pop wheelies down the straight on the track or pavement.

it must have something to do with the track surface. he obviously has gobs of traction. hard to tell...the track appears to have several surfaces. most of the weely action takes place on the back strait. what ever surface that is seems to stick like velcro.....I'm definitely curious as to what it is. the only "dirt" I see is on the far left and there appears to be less traction there. maybe concrete?

Did you get a new spring? If it's been compressed to max, it'll be too short to work properly.

Just to be clear: for Ryan's setup "unscrew shock 3 turns"

That is 3, 360 degree unscrew rotations?
