Hi guys,
I got an RC8Be over the winter. I asked what motor to get with the RX8 over on the RCU forums, and they said that the 1900 was way too much and the 1700 was perfect. So I got the 1700. Now reading this thread, and other spots aroud here, people say the 1900 is the best one to have.

TBH, I have not read all 355 pages so please forgive me, but do you think I made a mistake with the 1700?

After doing the math on a gearing calculator, if I go up to a 16 tooth pinion, it says, the speed will be the same with less of an amp draw then the 1900 with a 15 tooth. Is this an option?
Sorry, don't want to hijack the thread.
Thanks!

Are you using 4s, or 5s?

Most likely 4s, however, I could run 5s if I have to.

On 4s a 16t pinion will be slow. I run a 1800/5s with a 15t tekno traktion cluch and a 46t spur and the speed is spot on.

you didnt make a mistake, but you will need a 22 or 23 tooth pinion with 4s. i run a 1900, but still have my 1700 as a backup if i need to make a longer main

Wow! Thank you all for the quick responses. I will pick up a 22 and 23 tooth pinion. What is the pithch? mod. 1? I have a 16-20 set for my flux that are mod. 1 so it would be nice to have the same set for both cars.

Thanks again

I run a 22T Mod 1 pinion from Hot Bodies with a 2050kV Tekin T8 motor with no temp issues so far, but we haven't hit the 100F ambient days yet here in Texas.
